I swung out onto <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seeklyrics.com\/lyrics\/Bruce-Springsteen\/The-Promised-Land.html\">the almost deserted highway<\/a> and flipped over from radio to CD and was rewarded with a couple of songs from Springsteen&#8217;s <em>Born to Run<\/em> album.<\/p>\n<p>The quality of light, the open road in front of me, a couple of anthems from my youth&#8230;it was as if <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyricsdepot.com\/bruce-springsteen\/thunder-road.html\">a screen door slammed<\/a> in my mind, a dress waved, and a vision danced across the porch as the radio played.<\/p>\n<p>I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyricsdomain.com\/2\/bruce_springsteen\/something_in_the_night.html\">put the pedal down <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sing365.com\/music\/lyric.nsf\/Night-lyrics-Bruce-Springsteen\/352A777596CF8ACA482568710011F413\">off I screamed into the night<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Cool!<\/p>\n<p>Just one look, a whisper&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and I&#8217;m off to Keegans!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Night Writer apparently whacked his head on the same thing I did, somewhere along the way: It was a warm summer evening, in the gathering twilight that I like best when it is still light but the sky is beginning to gray and the lights of the cars and houses really seem to pop.
