I can imagine some guy might have a mental disorder where he hallucinates that he is a woman born in a man’s body. He tries to pass as a woman, live as woman, etc., perhaps even have surgery done, although it is impossible for him to have a normal sexual relationship as a fake woman.
What does this have to do with the parodies of women we call “drag”? Drag is men who make themselves caricatures of the male vision of a woman. They aren’t trying to pass as female at all, the central part of the joke is that they are a man pretending to be a woman. There is no gender dysphoria. It is a comic act, with sinister, misogynistic overtones.
I suppose the point is to remove the unique biological identity of women and replace it with glitter, push up bras, and bad wigs.
What woman would ever want to dress up as an overweight prostitute & then entertain children? Drag is so obviously an expression of the male sexual id it is difficult to see that anyone can sincerely think otherwise.

I do not know, MP. While I completely agree with you about diagnosis of mental illness when a man pretends to be woman other than vaudeville or as part of a comedy act – the old definition of “drag”, they have the right to do whatever they want. But it is up to society, and more importantly PARENTS, to teach their kids that what they are witnessing TODAY (not the vaudeville and comedy of yesteryear) is an expression of a mental illness and that these mentally ill people mean harm. There is a reason drag, also commonly known as female impersonation shows in the past were “adults only”. As such, society should ban all “grown man to put on a wig and Federicks of Hollywood XXL size clothing” from public places like libraries and parks whenever and wherever children are present. But again, ultimately it is all on parents – if nobody shows up to “reading hour with Big Bertha”, there is no reading hour. But for those parents who condone this, I do not want to hear about how your precious little child was misunderstood when it snapped, going on a massacre a couple years down the road. I’m probably a minority of one on this issue, but I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to drag story hour if it were done by someone like the late Dame Edna — RIP Barry Humphries.
As I’ve told people in other settings, I don’t want kids seeing strip tease by real women just as much as I don’t want it with fake women. Either is sexualizing kids and it’s not in anyone’s long-term self interest.

I guess something is lost on Emery; that there is a qualitative difference between women wearing stereotypically women’s clothing, and men doing the same. However, as distasteful as beauty pageants are to me personally–too over the top for my taste–they are hardly as sexualized as drag queens are today.
