For The Children

The number of assaults on teachers in classrooms.

The superintendent’s salary.

The achievement gap.

Two of those numbers are getting worse. One of them is getting better.

Any guesses?

Here you go:

There is, of course, a highly competitive market for Big city schools superintendents. The market for “top” candidates is incredibly competitive, and the salaries show it.

I’ve been trying to figure out why for a couple decades now. All of them talk about metrics that improve, but year over year things always get worse.

I’m trying to figure out any other field were actual accomplishment plays no factor in skyrocketing salaries.

  1. superintendent position interview question:
rank these job duties in order of importance
    -improve student test scores
    -maintain discipline in school
    -lobby for more funding
    -keep parents from interfering

  2. All of them talk about metrics that improve

Doesn’t that depend on the metrics chosen? I mean, if one of the metrics is a having a black female superintendent, regardless of ability or successful track record, well, then that metric is fully met.

  3. All a district needs is a drag-queen superintendent and then everything will improve! (To be sure, there probably have been one or two of those already.)

  4. I wonder what’s worse?

Having some spam comments, or having 50% of legitimate comments moderated and/or lost.

  5. Yes ,Swiftee, because obviously boys never got into vicious fights at school before Ruby Bridges. Pro tip; the sheets go on your bed, not over your head.

  6. Super flex, Bikebubbble! Be sure to pass that along to your daughters baby daddy. If you can find him.

  7. Ja’quan (or Sheneesha) Bikebubble….sounds like future Senators.

    We’re in good hands, Patiots!
