Security

A friend of the blog emails:

These people see downtown Target locking down everything and see it as corporate greed.

I hear about it and think of failed policies that create a mass of poverty stricken people who have fallen morally into the way of a Les Miserables story, where stealing is justified. It of course is justified by the very same people upset by the Target locking down basic supplies. It’s a cycle, which will continue to infinity until the cycle is somehow broken.

We have an entire generation of over-schooled, under-educated people who think of the world in terms of corporate black hats and social justice white hats.

  1. Suppose you are a major retailer and because of the area that you do business in, most of the thieves you catch are minority. An because the city police are undermanned they will not respond to your rentacops request to haul them to jail.
So you decide the best thing to do is put certain items in a lock up and not bother arresting shoplifters.
If people complain about the items being in the lockup, the next step would be to remove the items completely from the store.

  2. Gotta love the tweet by karkar. Typical entitled lefty; “a community donation”? Apparently, he is unaware of how much money Target gives back to the communities in which their stores are located. But then, to lefties, they can’t get enough free stuff.

  3. Yes Boss, it’s ironic that as woke as Target tries to be, it can’t please the hard core communists.

  4. golfdoc50,
Yea, I wonder if I was to say take one of his windshield wiper blades off his car, if he would consider that “a community donation?”

  5. Target fund sports for affluent white people to watch the hometown teams. Target funds Fine Arts like Walker and Guthrie for affluent white people to enjoy highbrow entertainment. Target exploits the masses of low-income residents to pay for it all. The guy who said Community donation was right. They should stop giving so much to hoity-toity people and give more to the poor people. That would be social justice. They preach about how Noble they’re giving is, well give it to the people who need it. And give more. Because you fat cats can afford that too.

Or shut up about your high-minded principles and quit pretending to care about little people. give without virtue signaling. That’s how the rest of us do it.

Reading this rang a bell for me about how normies should never apologize to proggies either. The apology will never be enough.

Geez, it’s almost as if proggies are people with (serious) mental issues.

When you remove items from the store, why keep the lights on? Shut it down and convert to lofts or parking for vibrant youts who are flocking to the city! Everyone is happy!

  8. You’d be surprised what stores will put behind locked doors. I remember visiting the pharmacy at Hy-Vee in Waseca about ten years back, and being surprised that pregnancy tests were locked up. Apparently that was a high demand item for people to steal.

I guess it could be the store being too cautious, but if I were at Target, I’d respond by sharing the shrinkage rate and comparing it with the nationwide rate. “Want to just grab your toothpaste instead of waiting for an attendant? Stop the theft!”

  9. I’m old enough to remember a country where we pumped gasoline and then paid for it.
