Fake News

Rebecca Brannon – one of about seven or eight actual journalists in the Twin Cities – went to downtown Minneapolis Friday night/Saturday morning.

Or so she would have us believe:

Of course, it can’t be; I’m reliably informed that “downtown is back“, and that anyone who disagrees is a suburban tourist who gets his entire world view from Tucker Carlson.

But boy, if it weren’t fake news, it would be pretty grim, wouldn’t it?

  1. There is a cheap, non-aggressive solution to all this chaos…

    Opera.

    No kidding.

When things get rowdy, you bring in the sound trucks and belt out Wagner’s Ring Cycle at 400 decibels.

It works like bug-repellent and the miscreants scatter like cock-roaches.

It has been tried and proved to be successful in several cities, but perhaps it is considered too cruel for Minneapolis.

  2. All those retired DFL boomers in those expensive condos along the river who were sold on an urban(e) lifestyle with delightful restaurants and high cultural events don’t seem to be in evidence. Odd that.

  3. Has anyone else heard that the news director at WDFL was a victim of an attempted carjacking a couple of weeks ago? Still trying to confirm, but someone that is connected into the local TV stations and has been reliable in the past, shared this with me. Can’t find it on the MPD blotter.

  4. Blacks fighting and twerking on cars at the gay bar.

And hasn’t there been a couple shootings up in there lately?

Waiting for Hakim to threaten legal action against the Gay 90’s.

  5. Regarding the “vibrancy” comments, it’s worth noting, ahem, that the first fight appears to involve whites, the guy getting his rear end kicked worst being rescued by a man who appears to be a light skinned black. Just sayin’. Nice of you to show your bigotry again, though, Swiftee.

Reality is that in a racially mixed area, you’d expect a racially mixed demographic of crime, and in a case outside a bar, yes, you’d expect some people acting as though they’ve been drinking. Police failure, yes, demographic failure, no.

  6. its not bigotry its racism
bigotry is when we blame the crime wave on methodists
racism is when we blame the crime wave on blacks
thats why fbi crime figures and even blm pie charts are racist but not bigoted
facts and truth are completely irrelevent

  7. I don’t equate the satirical use of the word “vibrancy” with race. I equate it with mayhem being described as “vibrant.” As in “If my neighborhood gets any more vibrant I’m gonna start carrying a gun.”
Merriam-Webster defines “vibrant” as “pulsating with life, vigor, or activity.”
The video can be accurately described as “vibrant.”

  8. Greg- In St Paul, there is a building called Spruce Tree Center. The parking ramp there used to play classical music. One day, it stopped. I’m positive it was some do gooder who didn’t even live close who complained on behalf of Spruce Tree neighbors – neighbors of which he or she never even met.

  9. depends on the dictionary you appeal to your authority and ill appeal to mine besides the dictionary is like the constitution a living document it means what i want it to mean for example

‘When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

‘The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’

‘The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.’

i am the master of my words not you and i say bigotry is not identical to racism blaming blacks for rampant crime is not bigotry its racism and also truth but we arent allowed to mention that in polite company
