Life Is Art Is Life

Joe Doakes from Como park emails:

Still working from home (two weeks to flatten the curve, you know). Can’t log in today. My “remote authentication certificate” is not recognized.

Called the Computer Support phone number. Recorded message says they’re experiencing a problem with remote login software but will send updated information to affected users by email.

I am – literally – living in a Dilbert cartoon.

Joe Doakes

Dilbert has been running since 1989.

If it took you until 2022 to realize this, you’ve had a very good run indeed.

  1. Just before I retired, tech support delivered a new laptop accompanied by a note saying the preloaded password was “change_your_f-ing_password”

I loved it so much, I kept it.

  2. For the past 20 years or so, I’ve been noting that Dilbert is not a cartoon, but a documentary. And I’ve also had my wonderful times with IT assistance–my favorite was a lady who had pirate cartoons all over her workspace. I still interact with that company, and if I mention “the pirate lady in IT”, they all instantly know who I’m talking about.

  3. If you can’t log in, HQ can’t track your computer activity.

I suggest taking your dog for a walk…all day.

  4. If you can’t log in, HQ can’t track your computer activity.

I suggest taking your do…(oops!) canine companion for a walk…all day.

  5. Dilbert has show the stupidity of many IT departments over the years. One of the classics was when he told his coworker that he told his boss that his network problem was because “his token ring was lost in the ethernet”, as they both watched his boss searching for it around his desk. His coworker responded, “you are the wind beneath my wings!”
