Task And Purpose

“Every once in a while, a politician slips up and tells the truth“

“Lieutenant“ Governor Flanagan did that Monday on Twitter:

She’s right. After three generations of actively creating dependence on government, they have… created dependence on government.

It’s a feature, not a bug. To the DFL, anyway.

  1. I dunno, Mitch, I think you’re reading an awful lot into that mindless fluff. I mean, who is the audience? JD’s quote, otoh, is worthy of a repeat every time the Legislature convenes.

  2. They say these things without fear, because the the fact is, the majority of Minnesotans are Happy to Pay.

Cy Thao was re-elected easily, and took our money at every opportunity.

It’s the way it is, and has been for the past 30 years. You guys are just torturing yourselves.

  3. From my Facebook post about the DFL trying to buy parents’ votes with child tax rebate.

“House Democrats have proposed a smaller tax relief package that calls for a $325 rebate to parents,…”

For less than $1/day House Democrats can sponsor a Minnesota Child. That support can help provide, well, let’s be honest, a lot less support than it did this time last year.

Maybe the DFL can pay Alyssa Milano to be a spokesperson and create public support for this vote buying proposal.

  4. I agree with Blade, I don’t know why, given their similar histories and economies, but Minnesota will never elect a senator like Ron Johnson.
Republican politicians in MN seem to be chamber of commerce types. My state rep is the very Trumpy Gae Magnafici.
When I read about the people getting carjacked in the inner ring suburbs of the Twin Cities, I can’t help but think that the victim probably voted for Keith Ellison and Mike Freeman or John Choi.
They knew who and what they were voting for.

  5. “I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts.” Ronald Reagan.
