Curiouser

Another friend of the blog emails:

Funny, why would this article mention “ghost guns”?

It relates to the San Jose shooter – who showed ample sign of being completely, although not legally provably, insane.

And no sign of having used a “ghost gun”.

  1. Where can I get me one of them ghost guns? Oh, and I’ll need some ghost ammo, also.

  2. Article also mentioned “automatic” handgun. Writer not familiar with firearms.

  3. That guy was a real looney.
Why did the writer include a gratuitous reference to ghost guns?
    “Editorial discretion.”
BTW, as an operator of one of the world’s foremost astrophysical telescopes, I made about 30% less $ than the shooter made operating an LTA choo-choo.
It would be interesting to see how the guy got a plum job like that, he must have been refered by someone who is now keeping his head down.

  4. Why all the fuss? It’s another in a long line of good guys with a gun breaking bad…

  5. Is Emery’s comment silly, stupid, or insane?
It’s kind of a red flag.
He would probably want us to do something about that.

  6. Ignorant. Not for the first time, not for the last time. He never read the linked article that showed his “good guy with a gun” was a drunken spouse abuser known for threatening his co workers, and for promoting terrorism.
Guess that “red flag” law ain’t working out for Californians.

  7. MO
are you permanently banned from ever discussing the TMT? You were right there in the middle of it, it would be interesting to hear your take on the kerfuffle.

  8. I am now retired now & live 4,000 miles from Hawaii, but I won’t comment on the specifics of the anti-TMT protests because it would be un-proffessional. I know people on both sides of the protest.
    I will say this:
Like BLM, support for the TMT protests broke strongly on ethnic lines, and not the lines you might think of if you live on the mainland. White people are a minority in Hawaii and not many black people live there.
Many of the protest leaders, the professional activists, are profoundly unhappy people who have decided that the source of their unhappiness is people of a different ethnicity living among them.
You cannot reason a person out of taking a position they did not reason themselves into. This is why scientists are poor negotiators.

  9. Curious how a “drunken spouse abuser known for threatening his co -workers,” was also a lawful gun owner.

    Thoughts and prayers….

  10. So eating that whole “good guys with a gun” thing?
    Good to see.
Maybe read the article next time?

  11. Emery makes a second attempt to write a coherent comment . . . and fails!

  12. Emery, technically the perp was a drunken girlfriend abuser, and he was able to collect his arsenal because (a) he didn’t care about the law to begin with (owning 30 magazines with more capacity than the law allowed and (b) he never appears to have been convicted of domestic violence. He was able to take a terrible toll at his workplace because his employer never figured out workplace security.

And if you can’t figure out the problems with imposing penalties on your fellow citizens without an actual conviction, I’m afraid I won’t be able to help you.

These are same mental midgets who are against the first amendment (both religious freedom and freedom of speech), the second amendment, and the rule of law.
Yet they say Trump’s followers are “un-American” and “unpatriotic.”
They want law by administrative rule, because it is easier to control their peers than it is to control the American people, in whom all of our sovereignty resides.
