The New Rules

Remember when there was an unstated rule, when following news coverage of a crime in the Metro – if they didn’t mention the offender’s ethnicity or show a photo, it actually answered the question?

New addition to the rule: if the story pertains to criminal justice’s response to last year’s riots, and the offender’s ideology – “Boogaloo”, “proud boy”, whatever – isn’t mentioned, you know by omission whose “side” they were on.

Case in point.

Prove me wrong.

  1. Yeah, we get it.  They’re black.

I see these guys, Bill Glahn and John Gilmour and some others on twitter, and that’s their entire act… picking up on crime stories and going :”hey, ya know these perps are black doncha.”

    Yeah, we get it.

As a guy trying to navigate the world with some hippie and real Christain harmony amidst my own crank righty instincts, I do think that’s where the rights’ misfit-ism is quite pronounced.  IE, being the guys who bitch about perps not being identified racially on crime stories.

What do you expect to get out of that?  What imprint of wisdom are you trying to form?

  2. if the story pertains to criminal justice’s response to last year’s riots, and the offender’s ideology – “Boogaloo”, “proud boy”, whatever – isn’t mentioned, you know by omission whose “side” they were on.

Subtle implication by the media: If the rioter espouses left-wing views and doesn’t carry an official membership card or self-identify, they’re a lone wolf. Except in the past, when Maj. Hassan shot up Fort Hood and self-identified as Soldier of Allah, and President Obama still characterized the tragedy as “workplace violence.”

    Nothing to see here.

  3. JK, you said that they were black, not Joe Doakes.
Their actual race is not important to me, but it is very, very important to certain politicians, and those politicians have a D after their name.

  4. At some point it would be great if people would simply admit that aggressively prosecuting gun crimes will result in more democrats going to jail. No matter how difficult they make it for middle aged white guys to buy an AR 15, they will not make a dent in gun crime stats.
This is why I get a kick when I think about democrats calling themselves the party of science, and that they believe in “evidence-based policy making.”

  5. I have no idea what that means, that’s it’s important to D politicians.

  6. Look at the demograpics, dude. Do you think those gang-bangers and their families are voting GOP?
