Very meek, Merg. Your most prolific commenter is a racist QAnon kook. And almost daily you put up missives by a man who is functionally retarded (… I say that now because he takes it seriously that Antifa provoked the Capital riot).
You oughta be more interested in pushing back on that than padddyboy or doggone or emery or whoever.
Got a mass email from Superintendent of District 191 to parents that started as attempted guidance on how to discuss the Capitol riot, quickly degenerated into full blown lefty rant about how she as a black female blah blah blah. I replied and invited her to open schools again, not deliver her personal political opinions.
There is nothing conservative about overthrowing the government to establish a tyranny.
Berg’s 18th Law is in effect. We don’t know who did or didn’t provoke the riot at the Capitol.
I’ll decide my own priorities by your indulgent leave.
Also – what does the purported content of my comment section have to do with calling out the hypocrisy of every single leftist in America about “bad violence’ versus “good violence?”
Well Mitch, you’ve made a significant intellectual labor effort over the years to be a standout man of idea and thought here locally. Having a racist Qanon kook going off in your comment threads 5 times a day about homo retrobates and racial IQ inferiority is discrediting. Makes normal people not take you seriously.
If you want to be Mn Twitters resident “debate me” guy, it does seem to enable that bit of LARPing.
John
I allow a lot of viewpoints here. I ban people very rarely, and even then only after the abuse goes far beyond endurance.
The putative “QAnon Kook” follows the rules, such as they are. So, to an extent, does Pad. These days, anyway.
Let it go.
☝️Mr Berg, just to be clear:
It was antifa and NOT Donald Trump speaking from the stage directing his followers to march on the Capitol?
It was antifa and NOT Rudy Giuliani and Don Trump Jr up there on stage directly telling Trump’s followers to march on the Capitol?
You have some splaining to do Mr Berg….
When you lose the WSJ and The Washington
Examiner ….
“Trump knew what he was doing. He was whipping a sizable portion of the crowd of his supporters into a frenzy.
He was acting like a tinpot strongman, not like the President of the United States.
His behavior was inexcusable.”
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/editorials/trump-and-his-mob-have-dishonored-america
Those guys would have just HATED Patrick Henry, and Paul Revere, and …
Baahahahaha…I *love* watching leftist reprobates squirt tears on conservative blogs. It just reinforces the Truth; they come here because no one shows up to their own little internet cesspools, in turn because reading inane twaddle from mid wit ‘tards is boring.
Squirt us some more pretty tears, Mr. Kraphammer! LMAO
If The Examiner & the WSJ were asked to close their eyes & imagine America, they would see the District of Columbia, its stately buildings of governance and its monuments.
Most of America sees something different than that when they imagine America.
👆I want to remind you that your Qanon conspiracy loving buddies-the-seditionist-asshats planted bombs in the United States Capitol Building. Think about it.
That’s the thing about movements like Qanon — they’ll always find a dramatic, sudden reason why the big reveal never happens. Trump was just about to show his evidence of voter fraud, the line goes, but the Deep State silenced him at the last second.
😂😂😂😂😂
“Qanon”?
Bwaaahahahahaa!
Let me clue you nitwits in on a little joke. “Qanon” was invented by some baked, 20 something dude on 4chan to troll Ron Paul bots. It worked like a charm; I bet they didn’t think it would suck low IQ reprobates in, too but it comes as no surprise.
When leftist slobs started talking about “Qanon” in the US House of Reps, the lads laughed themselves sick. It was hilarious!
And now, here you 2 fools come with “muh Qanon kooks”!!
Hahahahaa! You two are a gift, I swear.
Personally, I may well go on in mere moments here to abandon conversational pursuits at Shitpost in the Dark. Ya’ll can declare rhetorical victory over me as far as it goes.
But I didn’t assign that Qanon category definition there hyperbolically. Swift is a Qanon kook because he obviously is consumed by the Qanon pedophile conspiracy, and calls people pedophiles who are not… like Joe Biden.
Congrats on your blog here Mitch, congrats on your readership.
Swiftee is just another MAGA troll farm employee, still trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of disaster.
The FBI said it was seeking to “identify individuals instigating violence” and that it was “accepting tips and digital media depicting rioting or violence in and around the US Capitol on January 6”
If this can help, I have been told that one of the instigators was a fat old blond guy with a red tie …
Personally, I may well go on in mere moments here to abandon conversational pursuits at Shitpost in the Dark. Ya’ll can declare rhetorical victory over me as far as it goes.
We will miss your towering self-regard.
^ In life you’d find me a humble man very mindful of my average-ness. Thing is, most of you guys are a bunch of clowns. I do tower over most of you. That’s not self-regard speaking.
We will miss your towering self-regard.
I didn’t know they stacked self-regard that high.
That staggering pile of self-regard reminds me of burning mountains just west of Omaha that I christened “Mt. Obama” due to their content….the “mountains” were of course at a feedlot.
Seriously, John, regarding telling the world about your humility, maybe Proverbs 27:2 ought to guide you. The person who tells the world how humble he is has established one thing alone; he’s not. (as we learned with Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, both of whom assured the world that they were pretty humble)
Back to the subject, it’s very interesting that instead of addressing the hypothesis–that the left has been tolerating, and even aiding and abetting, riots for a long time now–a couple of commenters have decided to attack the associations of others. Another rule of thumb; the person resorting to personal attacks demonstrates that he is unable or unwilling to make a real argument.
It is also no surprise that when the hypothesis is tested–that liberals look the other way when people on their side riot–that many advocates resort to personal attacks. It’s because it’s hard to argue against with evidence, because too many liberal mayors, police chiefs, governors, Congressmen, and Senators have done exactly that.
I wonder what we will know about these riots in three months or six months time? Hard to believe some people have already made up their minds about the who & why part of the who what why when and where.
I think the left has been tolerating, and even aiding and abetting, riots… alright? That happened over 2020.
You can have that, you can make that equivalence. So tell me that 1/6 was a MAGA riot and that it was justified, and it that point I think we’ll all be telling the truth about what we feel.
It’s not saying that it was justified, John, to point out that the left has been looking the other way for years on this. It is to simply point out that the pious-sounding sanctimony of the left is just that–they weren’t interested in stopping riots until it was their own lawmakers running away through the basement.
Really, the left was arguably promoting riots by protesting President Trump’s attempts to help cities control them. So my comment to the left is “spare me the pious sounding BS–you’ve been looking the other way for years, at least as long as it’s your side doing the looting and rioting.”
QAnon “…is an idea, not an organization.”
“But I didn’t assign that Qanon category definition there hyperbolically. Swift is a Qanon kook ”
Whoa…so now your pookah is a larping sekret agentt, Faphammer? Your a psychologists wet dream.
“Ya’ll can declare rhetorical victory over me as far as it goes.”
Nah, you would have had to have come here with rhetoric. All we got from you was the mixed race, homoerotic, fantasies of a raving lunatic. We’ve seen your type before.
” In life you’d find me a humble man very mindful of my average-ness.”
lol…In life, I’m sure we’d find you creeping along as close as possible to any available wall, muttering incoherently that Q was after you. We’ve seen your type before.
Congrats btw, it takes gumption to get a pedophiles back. Maybe Pedo Joe has a place for you as Chief Groomer!
Evidently, the cheese whiz troll has found a cell signal up there in the woods, and is amusing himself by babbling incoherently while crouching in the bushes, waiting for an available socially distanced slot in the “Birkie” to glide off in.
LMAO
My position is that the Jan 6 riot was not justified, but it was inevitable.
If BLM riots can happen, so can MAGA riots.
This should be obvious.
Emery only condemns political violence by the right, not the left. So Emery is not against political violence.
And Paddyboy’s silence about leftist violence speaks volumes
Clearly some commentators would have said “9/11 was just 15 guys with box cutters” if they had been stopped.
It is not their success but their intent that must be considered.
Speaking of wing-nut conspiracies: Dominion sued Trump lawyer Sidney Powell for defamation.
The trial will be interesting. Ms Powell will need to prove her claims of election fraud and vote machine manipulation. Depositions will be given by those involved —Trump? Giuliani? Lin Wood?
I think it will be a good thing for the country.
The first step in a lawsuit is for both sides to investigate what evidence the other side has. So, for instance, Dominion’s lawyers will ask Powell to produce the scientific evidence backing her claim of vote shifting, the emails she exchanged with people claiming fraud in the election, etc.
But it’s a two-way process. She’s also entitled to ask Dominion for all the evidence they have that the machines failed to work properly and they knew it – evidence of past failures, reports of failure from this election, internal investigations into repairs and software updates to fix problems. Given that election officials specifically blamed machine malfunctions in the Presidential election and again in Georgia, that shouldn’t be an unreasonable request.
But I bet Dominion will refuse to cooperate. It will claim the demand is irrelevant, burdensome, overly broad and violates its proprietary trade secrets. It will claim the information is protected, privileged, classified and confidential. It will claim there is no evidence of fraud because the data logs were deleted at the instruction of election officials. Their computers and file cabinets have been wiped, like with a cloth, so there will be no ‘smoking gun.’
Powell can subpoena witnesses and request government records but they can refuse to cooperate and judges can decline to compel them.
The case – if it’s filed at all – will take years to complete and meanwhile, government agencies will use taxpayer money to hire Dominion machines for future elections. Your tax dollars will be laundered into crushing Powell, pour encourager les autres.
The Truth will never be allowed anywhere near the courtroom.
Political violence is a drug, highly addictive. I don’t draw a distinction between those on either side of the ideological spectrum who use it. I was struck watching video of the death of a woman in the Capitol by how many of the participants were attired in contemporary riot gear: helmets, some fitted with Go Pro cameras to record their crimes. If a person attends a political rally wearing that, something is radically wrong. My disaffection from the Left began when the Weathermen took over what had been totally peaceful marches by assaulting cops and destroying property. I don’t care if the other team did it first. It’s wrong and self defeating. Trump did some good things during his term. He also committed political suicide and took a lot of us with him. I don’t see any honor in that.
There has been more more hand wringing about the validity of political violence on this thread than I have seen among all the Democrat politicians and all the media throughout a summer when American cities were burned by Leftist mobs.
The Bill of Rights has been suspended for nine months.
People are shocked and surprised by violence?
We are Americans, not . . . Englishmen.
This may look like a threadjack at first, but its not, so bear with me.
Mocking lefty reprobates is a joy, but sometimes I just want to relax, so I’m a loyal reader of one James Lileks. He’s a writer from Minneapolis.
James’ blog is a compendium of American life lost. He gathers bits of radio shows, collects matchbooks and scours Google maps for decaying Midwestern towns and finds beauty in the decaying buildings.
It’s good, wholesome fun; the kind of website you’d not worry about leaving up at work. I highly recommend giving him a visit at lileks.com
I don’t leave comments there, it’s not a necessary task to have a pleasant experience there. But Lileks has a sizable and loyal bunch of regulars that do. Mostly they share experiences similar to ones Lileks has written about, or to answer questions Lileks may have posed. It’s light, pleasant banter between friends.
But I’ll be damned if there isn’t a reprobate troll that finds it necessary to infect the atmosphere with bitter, insane diatribes. Why xe has targeted that site is anybody’s guess…I’m not a psychiatrist.
Lileks doesn’t opine on political violence; that’s not his thing, he’s sharing clips from 50’s radio shows. And that pisses the troll off. Xe has been at it every day; “Why aren’t you outraged? Right wing riots! Violence! Trump! Aaaaaargh!”
I don’t think xe is any of the reprobates that darken these comments, but man, do they ever share the same mental dysfunction.
What repulsive, pathetic people these reprobates be. And how much happier the world would be, washed clean of them.
Oops…forgot to make my point.
The insane troll that has taken it upon xerself to pollute Lileks’ comments is too ignorant, too insane or both to realize that jumping into a company of people who are enjoying a peaceful discussion is every bit as violent as accosting diners enjoying a meal together, drinking their libations and turning the table over, because Rayciss! or Trump! or Female penis!
It’s the same mental illness being carried out in slightly different ways. Maybe the SITD and Lileks trolls would like to drink your beer and turn tables over too, but they’re too cowardly for that kind of thing.
In fact, I think that’s what it is.
Dang it, my point is in moderation…sigh.
I think I know what triggered the modbot, so once again, my point is;

Twitter Bans President Trump’s Personal Account Permanently
https://www.wsj.com/articles/twitter-says-it-is-permanently-suspending-account-of-president-trump-11610148903
What kind of country is it when private individuals running a private company can decide not to associate with or provide a platform to a dangerous terrorism-inciting autocrat?
The crowd outside the capitol was huge, hundreds of thousands.
The people walking into the capitol as the policeman held the door, were dressed as normal Republican-looking people, peaceful and polite.
The people who “stormed” the capitol, busted doors, fought police, posed for pictures at the Speaker’s podium, are long-haired freaky-looking people.
My gut instinct is the troublemakers are not ordinary fly-over-country Republicans who go to church, join the Kiwanis and keep their yards mowed. My gut instinct is they were outside agitators, like Umbrella Man the window smasher.
What would it take to convince us that outside agitators staged a false flag operation which Liberals seized upon as an excuse to brush aside questions about the validity of the election in a storm of pearl clutching outrage? Eyewitness statements? Still photos? Video?
Ya — whatever…
I think the problem the Republicans have is that there are increasingly few commonalities in their coalition which is basically made up of an ‘economic nationalist’ white working class base combined with the rich, low tax supporting upper middle class. The latter were willing to support Trump provided all the anti-China, anti-trade, wall building stuff were just campaign slogans. But putting them into effect, as Trump partially did, harms their economic interests. So you are left only with the ‘economic nationalist’ working class group. That’s about 30-35% of the population. You can’t win an election with that.
So essentially, the GOP is left with something analogous to the Cummings Brexit coalition but without the traditional Tory voter. Its a disaster for the GOP.
Swiftee, that’s laudable you have the self awareness and manners to not gunk up Lilek’s comments threads with your observations on racial IQ science and filthy retrobate minorities, and that you reserve that for places where normative and acceptable, ie, Mitch’s blog.
It’s a serious question, E. Pretend you are a rational, logical thinker. Pretend someone offers you a possible explanation for the ‘riot’ other than ‘Trump did it.’ What would it take to convince you that the alternative explanation was correct? Eyewitness testimony? Still photos? Video?
Similarly, pretend someone offers you a possible explanation for the election results other than ‘Trump lost.’ What would it take to convince you that the alternative explanation was correct? Eyewitness testimony? Still photos? Video?
And again, pretend someone offers you a possible explanation for the George Floyd riots other than ‘white supremacists.’ What would it take to convince you that the alternative explanation was correct? Eyewitness testimony? Still photos? Video?
If your answer to each of them is, “There is nothing anybody can say or do, no evidence of any kind would convince me,” then you are not a logical, rational person analyzing a problem. You are a religious fanatic, believing on faith alone. And there’s no point in logical, rational people listening to you any more than the raving lunatic on the corner with the global warming sign saying, “Repent, The End Is Near.”
By the way, what steps should President Trump have taken to defeat Covid, when should he have taken them, and under what authority?
that you reserve that for places where normative and acceptable, ie, Mitch’s blog
What are you trying to get at, John?
Trying to play content police in my comment section?
What is the goal, here?
Faphammer is triggered, bigly, Mitch.
He came here, fully expecting us to recognize him for the intellectual giant his imagination tells him he is. He towers over everyone in his fantasy world.
Instead, he’s been marked for a mentally deficient dolt, screeching incoherently from a tower of babble; and treated as such.
It’s been hard on the little fellow.
John K, all of Swiftee’s comments scream: “look at me”. I suspect he lacked a positive-strong male role model in his upbringing.
JD, look at who is being arrested — QAnaon adherents and Proud Boys.
If a bunch of people carrying Trump flags and wearing MAGA hats “don’t look like Trump supporters”, then who the hell does?
I guess Derrick Evans the Republican legislator from West Virginia who filmed himself entering the Capitol with the rioters (resigned from office after he was arrested and charged) are now part of Antifa?
Can we please stop slapping the label “conservative” on the lunatic fringe of authoritarian seditionists?
There is nothing conservative about overthrowing the government to establish a tyranny.
There is nothing conservative about overthrowing the government to establish a tyranny.
Nor is there liberal about suppressing political speech and compiling blacklists.
As usual, you have no introspection, Emery.
Virtually every political state in existence today, including the liberal democracies, began with an illegal coup against the existing regime.
I’m sure the individuals who brought zip ties and nooses were very concerned about unity. Perhaps they wanted to unify the left and right (hands). Maybe there were some loose cables behind a computer that needed tidying up.
The true heart of the GOP was revealed by Senator Kelly Loeffler. She declared that she could no longer ‘in good conscience’ vote to question the presidential election result because of the Capitol invasion.
Either she did think the presidential result was rigged, in which case she would have been insane to change her vote. But of course she never thought it was, she simply thought that it wasn’t embarrassing to lie about her most important democratic duty, until the Capitol invasion made it too embarrassing for her.
It is literally impossible imagine less integrity than this. And what happened when she said it? Other GOP senators broke into applause.
What a rotten party.
