Forget What We Said…

It’s been my thesis for some time that Democrats know they can say anything they want, because they know their audience are, shall we say, not critical thinkers, and that the media and education systems will do nothing to fix that.

To wit: Democrats who called for defunding the police now say that they never called for defunding the Police, Winston.

Emphasis added by me:

“Not a single member of Congress that I’m aware of campaigned on socialism or defunding the police in this general election,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) said on CNN’s State of the Union. “These were largely slogans or they were demands from activist groups.” The congresswoman, who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, added that “Republicans levied very effective rhetorical attacks against our party” by linking Democrats to the movements.

Next, to continue the narrative that “democrats didn’t call for defunding the police”, is Ilhan Omar, who called for defunding the police:

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), who called to “completely dismantle” her city’s police department this year, went further and said it was a Republican “narrative” that radical movements doomed Democrats in swing districts.

I’m fairly convinced that if Red America seceded from Blue America, within a decade the good guys would have to intervene tell the Blues not to water their crops with Brawndo.

  1. A decade? I’m pretty sure it’d only take a year or two for that bail out to be required. Plus, why hate on Brawdo,? It got electrolytes.

  2. Look at the failure of Proposition 16 in California to see how out of touch the most liberal Democrats are.

In a state that is only 37% white and voted 60%+ for Biden, the electorate rejected the reinstatement of affirmative action, a cornerstone of liberal Democratic identity politics, with 56% of the vote. Proposals to defund the police and eliminate private health insurance did not gain Democrats votes.

  3. Activists that I know seemed to largely have this complaint about Biden during the campaign- that he was not progressive enough. Defend activists called Harris a cop who would be too friendly to police. Republicans have had similar issues in the past, calling some elected Republicans RINOs.

That being said, hyperbole has been alive and well in Saint Paul DFL politics for years. This year, hyperbole was all over the place. What’s surprising is that people keep believing what is said rather than what they see with their own eyes.

  4. You’ve got to love it as AOC, who’s described herself as a “democratic socialist” for years, has the chutzpah to claim that no one running for Congress as a Democrat was running as a socialist. It just boggles the mind that she thinks her supporters are that dense to not remember how she introduced herself. It boggles the mind even more that she’s apparently right.

  5. Reading you write that “Democrats aren’t, shall we say, critical thinkers..” while the GOP ties itself in knots trying to justify fraud allegations based on fluff, puffery and made-up crap, is, to us critical thinkers, absurdly laughable.

  6. Yea, Paddywhacker?

And ignorant leftists like you, really believe that your media overlords can certify a presidential candidate. Creepy Joe is still just a former Vice President and Kamala Harris is still just a Senator from a corrupt Democrat state.
