  1. According to the Washington Examiner, AOC was asking questions of the National Wildlife Federation’s Mustafa Ali when she unleashed her “logic” on the room:

“[T]he people that are producing climate change, the folks that are responsible for the largest amount of emissions, or communities, or corporations, they tend to be predominantly white, correct?” she asked at a hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee on civil rights and civil liberties.

The National Wildlife Federation’s Mustafa Ali replied that “yes, and every study backs that up I know no one is intentionally trying to kill people and hurt people.”

“My own grandfather died in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria,” said Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, referring to the 2017 Puerto Rico storm that ultimately left about 3,000 dead. “We can’t act as though the inertia and history of colonization doesn’t play a role in this.”

Let’s clear a couple of things up.

China produces 30% of the world’s greenhouse gases.
The U.S. and EU together produce about 23%
India comes in at 6% and Russia at 4%.

Last time I checked. China is peopled by Chinese, not white people.

That exchange has got to be about the most racist thing ever said in the modern Congress – but would anyone in the media call her on it?

But speaking of race, who “color” is AOC? Just because her ancestors lived in Puerto Rico does not make her “of color”.

In fact, Puerto Rico was settled mainly by people from Spain, Italy and Greece. In other words Mediterranean folks.

The Taíno people were native to the island and but now account for less than 10% of the genetics. AOC may be about as native American as Elizabeth Warren.

And by the way, what race is that other “woman of color” squad member Rashida Tlaib? I mean, aren’t Palestinians considered caucasian?

  2. Accusations of white privilege don’t bother me because I identify as a Eskimo and personally, I am sick and tired of white supremacists like AOC oppressing me. I want reparations.

    A free pony would do.

It’s got to be a hardy Shetland pony though, because it’s cold where Eskimos live.

Icelandic Ponies are tough little cold weather horses worth a look – plus they live nearly 40 years and breed until they’re 25 – tell AOC that you want one!

  4. To be honest, Elizabeth Warren promised me a free pony, but if I play my cards right, AOC might be good for one too!

  5. I identify as Libyan now because I had a great-great grandmother with rather dark skin and my 23 and me profile showed I had 3% North African DNA. So, where do I sign up for benefits?

  6. ” I mean, aren’t Palestinians considered caucasian?
    *cringe*

    Uh, no. No they’re not.

  7. That sounds great. Give her the nomination next year, and when the ballots are printed, THEN you let the Democrats know you’ve got to be at least 35 years old.

Seems like the left is just as knowledgeable about Article 2 of the Constitution as they are about the 2nd Amendment.

  8. Uh, no. No they’re not. – Swiftee Pinochet

Then pray tell, what are they? They are not asian, nor African, nor related to the natives of North America or Eskimos (my people :))

They are a Semitic people, closely related to Arabs – who are classified as Caucasian.

Are they white? Hmmmm, not as white as Norwegians perhaps, but then what is white? There are folks in India who are whiter than some black Irish I met in Ireland.

    From Dictionary.com

    adjective Also Cau·cas·ic [kaw-kas-ik, -kaz-] .
Anthropology. (no longer in technical use) of, relating to, or characteristic of one of the traditional racial divisions of humankind, marked by fair to dark skin, straight to tightly curled hair, and light to very dark eyes, and originally inhabiting Europe, parts of North Africa, western Asia, and India.

  9. Greg, there is no such a thing as a “Palestinian people”. There are Arabs living in what is called Palestine. There are some that claim ancient Eskimos migrated to the Sinai desert, but the fossil record does not bear it out.

  10. Hopefully she’ll force old republicans away from cheap, ad hominem attacks. She’s cool and all, plus it’s great to be popular, but the myth of democratic socialism needs defeating. And those who are smart should quickly learn to stay away from her race, gender, and age, and instead focus on her unsustainable and immature economic policy.

  11. I see what you are getting at Swiftee. My point was that Rashida Tlaib has no more right to wrap herself in the privileged shawl of color than say an Italian or Greek who also hail from the Mediterranean region.

Sure, she has a good mix of Arab in her, but then who are they other than people who wandered out of Syria, Iraq and Egypt?

But let’s get down to what is important…. is she a victim of oppression because her ancestors lived on the six lane freeway of invasion that is the cross-roads of the Middle East?

Why of course she is. Her heritage groans under the burden of colonialism – but before she blames the British or the Israelis, she might want to take it up with the Perians, Mamluks and Turks first.
