Dissociation?

Some people read this story – about a “psychiatrist” taking umbrage at people calling Trump “crazy” to avoid stigmatizing the mentally ill – and taking it as a sign of the growing intellectual frivolity of our society’s putative elite and the left in general.

I”m going to add emphasis:

“Second, calling Trump crazy hides the fact that we’re crazy for having elected him and even crazier for allowing his crazy policies to persist,” Frances went on. “Trump is as destructive a person in this century as Hitler, Stalin, Mao in the last century. He may be responsible for many more million deaths than they were.”

Someone looking to get headlines for their book, consulting practice or media brand by making a big, stupid headline?

But of course.

But let’s not sell the little fella short. Remember – Berg’s Seventh Law never sleeps.

Why are “progressives” blaiming Trump for millions of deaths he never committed (note to my progressive readers: the guy’s making it all up)?

  1. I read somewhere that it’s not ratio so to listen to psychologists or psychiatrists because the profession draws from mentally disturbed people.

I think that is right at least 1/2 the time.

  2. I’m not now, nor have I ever been, a psychiatrist. I know something of the profession, having worked with a few of them. The so-called Goldwater rule doesn’t have any more clout than the Hippocratic oath (first, do no harm). It makes sense to me, but no psychiatrist will lose his license because he goes on CNN and makes an off the cuff diagnosis of Trump. Here’s a thought experiment: you’re on a jury. A suspect is on trial and is pleading not guilty by virtue of temporary insanity. The defense calls an expert witness: a psychiatrist. On cross examination the witness states he never examined the defendant, but he did watch a lot of video of the person. Are you going to be persuaded by the doctor’s opinion?

  3. Psychologists would be responsible for determining the fate of a person tagged with a “red flag” complaint.

I’d be damned if I’d willingly put my human rights in the hands of these people.

  4. The Goldwater rule never envisioned a reality TV President who lives his life virtually in front of the camera and on Twitter.

  5. The Left’s bag of tricks rarely changes. The USSR used to place dissenters in psychiatric hospitals, since only “crazy” people would be against Communism.

  6. Rules should always, always be applied differently if they go against a lefty or its talking point(s).

  7. Trump’s capacity for lying is virtually beyond comprehension. Ironically, Trump’s singular advantage is his willingness to lie about anything and everything without shame.

Normal people cannot lie like Trump does because they cannot stay employed. He thrives because he has been “self-employed” for most of his life.

Trump is proof that, “Just be yourself.” may not be the best advice to give some people.

  8. Despite the “Trumps the lyingest liar in Lie Town” dead horse beating, at least Emery didn’t do a “but Trump is blah blah blah” on a topic unrelated to the President.

    For this I am thankful.

  9. No concerns at all about the Russian collusion lie repeated, hourly, day in, day out, for two years by our professional truth tellers in the media.

  10. You know, regardless of Emory’s lying liars threadjack to distract from the blogged item, I think it is important to note that psychology and psychiatry have been used in the past to persecute and send to jail, if not concentration camps, those people who don’t hold the correct opinions. And a-holes like that punk up above would be all too happy to do so.

  11. “Clinton is an unusually good liar. Unusually good. Do you realize that?”

    – Bob Kerry

odd how Republicans don’t say the same about Trump. They recognize the difference between statements made with intent to deceive, versus hyperbole.

Emory, of course, is oblivious to distinctions.

  12. JD: I am going to start forwarding Tae Bo infomercials to you. For your own good. It will hone your critical reflexes — interspersed with Tom Vu infomercials for motivation.
