Logic

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

The governor of Virginia explained that a proposed law would allow a woman to give birth to her baby, then decide whether to kill it.  A “post-birth” abortion.  Aside from the fact that killing babies is what Kenneth Gosnell went to prison for, why only the mother? Why isn’t the father involved in the decision to kill the child?
In the past, the “women-only” argument was that a woman’s body should be free from government intrusion.  Government shouldn’t have the power to force her to carry a child, and neither should anybody else.  That’s involuntary servitude, a fancy of saying sexual slavery, which is evil.  Plainly, the woman is the only person with a right to decide what happens to her body, including whether to terminate the pregnancy by abortion.
But under the proposed law, the carrying is done.  The baby is out of her body.  No slavery involved.  So why should only the woman get to decide whether the baby lives or dies? Why isn’t the father involved?  For that matter, why isn’t the baby involved?   Who speaks on behalf of the living, breathing, child lying on the table?  Shouldn’t there be someone appointed to defend the child’s rights including the most fundamental right of all – the right to be alive?
Serious flaws in the logic of the proposed law. Send it back for more work.

To be fair, it was never about logic.

  1. Speaking of Nazis…the Hitler regime engaged in infanticide, until the German people stood up against that practice. Hitler agreed, but then they did it in secret.

Dr. Northam’s comment about the medically accepted approach to delivering a baby with massive birth defects and very low probability of survival have all been perverted by those seeking to further their own special agenda.

Rational thought and calm discussions weighed with long view of behavior and social & professional norms is essential to our democratic process.  The time to set these in wide practice is long overdue.

  3. I made a New Year’s Resolution not to reply to Emery (whose avatar is Dr. Strangeglove) because after his comments on the Covington Massacre, I’m convinced he’s an irredeemable idiot. Do I need to extend my pledge?

Asking “who decides if the baby lives or dies” is not inconsistent with rational thought, calm discussion, the long view of behavior, social or professional norms, or the democratic process. Seems to me it’s the very essence of the entire public policy debate.

Which you dodged, Emery Incognito. Answer the question: who should decide whether the baby lives or dies, and why those people but not others?

  4. Leftist reprobates often excuse their behavior by claiming it doesn’t effect others.
Homo “marriage” doesn’t destroy real marriage.
Don’t like abortion, don’t get one!

But it’s a lie, because we can all see the corrosive effect their debauchery has on society. Liberalism is a threat to public health; it’s a communicable mental illness.

Our hope, barring amicable separation or outright civil war, lies with the SCOTUS. States must be allowed to decide societal norms for themselves.

  5. I think it’s great that you spend your time surfing the net for salacious stories to wank yourself with D_K, but keep them to yourself, M’k?

  6. Perhaps Mrs Night Writer would like to be carrying a stillborn and be told she had to wait a week for a natural childbirth as the baby’s body decays inside hers.

  7. Zoom, there Emery Incognito goes, chasing off after a red herring.

The Governor wasn’t talking about stillborn babies. Emery Incognito knows this because his 6:22 post mentions babies born alive but with massive birth defects and low probability of survival as justification for Dr. Mengele to kill them. By throwing out a challenge regarding dead babies, Emery Incognito is intentionally avoiding talking about the point of the original post and the point of his own comment – who decides whether a living baby lives, or dies?

There are two possibilities: he realizes his position is indefensible and is trying to hide it by diverting attention to an irrelevant topic; or he honestly doesn’t see any reason to treat a living baby differently from a dead one. Neither situation inspires much confidence in his intellectual abilities.

  8. Exactly how is it a surgical abortion if the child is already dead? For reference, it is very often safe to allow the mother to expel a stillborn child, and my wife and I know that from experience. Also, you do not need to go to an abortionist to surgically remove the unborn child. They do dilation & extraction at actual medical facilities.

You’ve made some dumb comments, Emery, but you’re outdoing yourself today.
