More Of This

Stewart Mills leads Rick “The Fossil” Nolan in the CD8 race, according to KSTP:

In a rematch of one of the closest congressional races in the country two years ago, Republican Stewart Mills leads Democratic incumbent Rick Nolan by four points in Minnesota’s 8th District, 45 percent to 41 percent, in our exclusive KSTP/SurveyUSA poll. However, a significant number of voters remain undecided, 14 percent, and could swing this election either way.

“You have to keep in mind there’s been wall-to-wall political advertising” in this race, says political scientist Steven Schier of Carleton College. “It’s the most expensive race in the country and still 14 percent are undecided so it’s still anybody’s game.”

I’ve seen other polling that shows Mills with a bigger lead…

…but six years ago, Cravack was merely polling below even with Oberstar at this point in the race.

Watch for a LOT of Sorosbucks.

  1. Mitch, is there a IP/Green/Libertarian candidate that could get 5-10% of the vote in this race. Also why the hell are these ads making it down to us? Just how far south does the 8th district dip now? Like north metro?

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if the voter rolls suddenly contain the names of the 29 souls lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald and other shipwrecks of Gitchee Gumee (technically, we never found a body, so you can’t question that vote, vote suppressor).
The DCCC is kind of half hearted in this effort with the only update to ads that were found to be false or offered with zero context two years ago is Stewart Mills haircut. Interesting as well that our Democrat Party Dominated Media Culture can’t quite bring itself to questioning the Fossils support of the taconite and other mining interests when the DFL of the Cities (Central Committee) is doing a full court press on shutting all mining down. And hoping that a extended unemployment benefits & some food stamps will suffice for another few months of the miners not working and the Dachas of Prominent Functionaries of the DFL unencumbered with the tailings of working mines.

  3. POD – The 8th doesn’t quite get as far South as your realm, but it does get into Chisago & Isanti county’s which seem ever closer to the Metro. Also, given that Winnipeg & Thunder Bay feature Twin Cities TV stations on their cable set-ups, our poor Canadian cousins are suffering through these ads too. So much for moving to Canada.

  4. Geographically speaking the 8th district is huge, covers about 1/4th of the entire state.
