Dismissed

If there’s a part of this country in as dire a need of judicial reform as Wisconsin (with its Soviet-style “John Doe” laws), it’s Texas, where District Attorneys can go “DA shopping” to pin a defamatory criminal charge on people who say inconvenient truths.

Of course, so far – as with Tom DeLay, among others – it’s not working; the charges against the Planned Parenthood filmmakers have been dropped:

David Daleiden and his associate Sandra Merritt were indicted for their roles in the release of the videos in January. Misdemeanor charges against Daleiden were dismissed last month.

But Texas District Judge Brock Thomas dismissed the last charge — tampering with government records, a felony — Fox News reported. Prosecutors alleged Daleiden and Merritt used fake driver’s licenses while dealing with Planned Parenthood, the network said, adding that if they had been convicted of the felony charge, each could have been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.

The controversial videos released last summer depicted Planned Parenthood employees appearing to negotiate the price of aborted fetal body parts “per specimen.” Profiting from the sale of human body parts — including those of the unborn — is a felony in the United States. Spokespersons for Planned Parenthood have denied illegal conduct.

The propensity of Democrats to abuse the judicial and government systems to stifle free speech should make any real American’s blood boil .

  1. My opinion of infanticide is evolving. Checking the CDC surveillance reports, one gets a picture worth reconsidering.

Every year, just short of a million babies are destroyed. But who is involved in the slaughter?

    Moochers, losers…and yup, leftists.

Responsible, decent Americans are not Planned Parenthood material. Oh sure, there is always going to be some collateral damage, that can’t be helped. But for the overwhelming majority of cases, abortion is a case of the lowest common denominator limiting itself.

If some leftist reprobate wants to treat her spawn like a fur trader treats a baby harp seal, who are we to stop her?

Every time a womyn trots off to Planned Parenthood, one more dg, one more Peevee is denied the opportunity to pollute our country with their ignorance.

I’m very happy that Daledion & co. have been vindicated, the are high quality, decent folks. But I’m beginning to believe their efforts could be better applied elsewhere.

  2. These guys were busted breaking the law. The only abuse of the judicial system was letting them go; along with other corrupt shit like the AG of Texas receiving money for his campaign from Trump and then dropping a really solid case against Trump for his fake University.

    Ditto the Florida AG.

This was a good case; the PP guys were the bad guys just like O’Keefe. They put stuff in their videos that were not true. Only you fanatics still hang on to what they did as having any merit.

Same old double standards for other people, look the other way for your own.

  3. Looks like the defendants are gearing up to see exactly why these indictments were issued–as I noted on my own site, it’s a rather obvious lapse that any DA or judge should have caught and prevented.

Swiftee, I understand the sentiment, but babies don’t deserve to die just because their parents are leeches.

  4. There are serious problems with the Justice system and it needs to be reformed. How about starting with putting overzealous prosecutors in jail? Especially those withholding exculpatory evidence, for starters? Or those shopping for judges where they do not have a case to begin with? I bet a little (or a lot) of jail time and fines (the bigger the better) would tend to curb abuse of the justice system.

  5. I hear what you are saying, Bubba. But the SCOTUS has found the right to infanticide was neatly contained in the constitution. We live in a world that is quickly devolving back into savagery because savages have taken over the control panels in the countries that were once responsible for maintaining civility and decency.

The only solution is for decent people to insulate themselves and their families, and let the savages kill themselves off.

  6. I like what JPA said….and not just because I like to say about the same thing! One of the keys to recovering a sane society is demonstrating that, yes indeed, when prosecutors misbehave, they will lose their jobs and even their bar licenses.

Regarding prenatal infanticide (let’s call it by its honest name), we’ve got a big gut check where either we will defund abortionists, or the courts will eventually rule that we MUST fund them because the crime must be available. Key to winning that one, I think, is to point out that abortion really doesn’t benefit women, because it allows unstable men to bed them without consequence and leaves the women less marriageable.

  7. Thanks gl whistler. Should have known someone smarter than I had figured it out right away.

If we put a PP next to every WalMart, artisanal coffee house, Popeyes chicken shack and Community NGO, and advertised in leftist media, I think the reprobate population would soon take care of itself. Hell, I’d even go so far as to suggest it would be worth the return to repurpose some of the social spending to fund it.

  8. “Key to winning that one, I think, is to point out that abortion really doesn’t benefit women, because it allows unstable men to bed them without consequence and leaves the women less marriageable.”

You are too decent a fellow bubba, and you are giving the sluts and slimey men that Leftist or wards of the state raise. They are little better than feral dogs in their mating habits.

The only people interested in marriage on the left are the homos, and they are only interested in destroying it as a viable platform to raise kids.

  9. You are giving the sluts and slimey men that Leftist or wards of the state raise too much credit.

  10. You are giving the sluts and slimey men that Leftist or wards of the state raise too much credit.

I assume that was for me, and perhaps you are right. But that said, I used to work in a factory that was–very conveniently for a lot of the workers–right next door to the county welfare office. No kidding. So I worked with a fair number of people approximately in the categories you’re spelling out.

What I learned about them was that they were not, generally speaking, stupid people. What they had was some really, really horrendous incentives. One particular case was a woman–four kids by three different fathers I believe–counting the child support money she’d receive when she divorced her husband, a man who had forgiven her for her adultery.

Can we at least restrict child support to cases where a man has adopted the child legally, or when his DNA matches the child’s? Apparently not, and we’re paying a trillion bucks a year in welfare as a result.

  11. Really, Doggy, you need to clean the dog doo doo out of your house. The left wing whack job DAs that bring these John Doe law suits against political opponents, are just as low on the social scale as ambulance chasers. These little childish temper tantrums that you lefties throw cost the taxpayers thousands of dollars. But, you know that to you miscreants, money is of no concern. The Dear Leader will just instruct his minion at the Fed to print more.

Tell me Doggy and again, please be specific. When was the last time a Republican DA did anything like this? I suspect that you will spend the rest of the day either trying to find something on one of your propaganda spewing sites or making something up.

  12. DG whimpered: They put stuff in their videos that were not true.

    What stuff SPECIFICALLY?

If you can’t detail it then you’re just lying again.

  13. DG didn’t watch the videos, neither the edited or the unedited versions that were distributed. But she has a neighbor who has had an abortion, and the neighbor told her that there was stuff in there that wasn’t true. Of course, the neighbor didn’t watch the videos, either. If she had, sh’ed be asking PP for her share.

  14. My theory about Roe V. Wade has always been that its the 2nd worst decision made by the court behind Plessy V. Ferguson (which for those who don’t know promoted separate but equal. Setting integration back 60 years, at least). It took the court 50 years (1896-1954) and another case Brown V. Board of Education to overturn it, and another 15-20 fighting for it. It will be a similar timeframe for Roe. 1973- ~2025 or later. It will be overturned, its just going to take awhile.

  15. Penigma’s Chihuahua yipped:”These guys were busted breaking the law.”

And that’s why the judge dismissed the charge. Because judges always dismiss charges when the charged were breaking the law. Not.

  16. POD, if you want a bad Supreme Court decision, check out Wickard v. Filburn some time.

  17. Off topic, but I see in City Pages where AM 1130 just got rid of another angry white man conservative announcer.

They apparently pay their talent, although I have no idea how much.

Sounds like you might be just what they need. I’d love to see you get paid for your talent and time on the radio, not just hearty hand shake appreciation. Check them out — I bet you would improve their ratings!

  18. Dog Gone has a goal.

The goal is to remain ignorant of the places she and her “movement” go wrong.

Dog Gone achieves that goal, but it isn’t pretty. In fact, it looks a lot like stupid.

  19. To be fair to DG, Loren, which is extremely tough to do, judges do decide when laws were broken, but unfairly enforced, and thus dismiss them. I was pulled over years ago, for example, because I was driving a box truck loaded with furniture bound for our fledgling store. The young and overzealous commercial vehicle officer wrote me up for every MN DOT violation ever, which I had no idea even existed. I went into court and explained my total ignorance of over the road laws that in no way even applied to our box truck, like maintaining driving logs and transporting hazardous materials (the truck ran on gasoline, damnit). The DOT laws were so obscure and so open to interpretation, the judge asked for clerification from a clerk. She then dismissed every violation except for a busted tailight and me wearing ear buds. If she had enforced everything, I’d probably be tens of thousands of dollars in debt, cornholed by a Dakota County inmate, and unable to drive so much as a bicycle to this day.

  20. DG,

Calling Jack Tomczak” angry white man” is a certainly a matter of narrative over substance; Jack is smart, incredibly knowledgeable about Minnesota politics, and a natural comedian. I like to think I did my bit getting him hired at KTCN, and I hope he lands somewhere else soon.

And you got one right, DG. I could certainly improve KTCN’s ratings. But, quite frankly, I don’t think they can afford me. That’s not arrogance; software design pays better than being a morning host for iHeart in the Twin Cities these days.

Any station would have to offer me an awful lot of money indeed to leave my current situation with Salem – with complete creative control and exactly the exposure to the vicissitudes of the radio Industry that I want. Which is roughly 0.

  21. DG has never listened to Jack, of course, but she has a neighbor who once built a crystal radio set, who told her Jack was white (and therefore angry).

  22. …but she has a neighbor who once built a potato radio set while on crystal meth, who told her…

    There, fixed it for you…
