Constitutional Mix And Match

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

Liberals don’t like the notion that government power should be restrained, because then they can’t use government power to do what they want to do when they want to do it.  That’s why they pick and choose which Constitutional Amendments are important, and which are not.

Which was a central point of both A Nation of Cowards and The Embarassing Second Amendment, two of the seminal articles that led from the anti-gun misery of the eighties to where we are today, by the way.

I digress.

First Amendment protection of Freedom of Speech is favored – when the speech is favored.  But not hate speech, which is any speech that I hate.  That’s not protected so it can be restrained before it’s even spoken, to avoid upsetting people.

First Amendment protection of Religion is favored – for Muslims seeking to establish an alternative sharia system in America.  But not for Christians who object to baking wedding cakes for Sodomites or nuns who object to paying insurance premiums for abortion coverage; those religious practices must be suppressed so the rest of society can enjoy freedom from religious oppression.

Second Amendment protection of individual right to firearms – horrible.  Obsolete, dangerous, must be thrown out at once.  Only government officials should legally possess firearms.  And criminals, so long as they stay in the ghetto and leave us alone.  And bodyguards for celebrities.  Also politicians and heavy contributors who live in gated communities . . .  you know, the important people; not the little people in fly-over land bitterly clinging to their guns and religion.

Fourth Amendment protection against Search and Seizure is so important we no longer stop-and-frisk the 8% of the population that we know commits 50% of the murders in the nation.  Unless we suspect you might have contributed to Republicans, then a John Doe investigation can seize everything you own and prohibit you from protesting the seizure.

Seriously, it’s as if Liberals don’t want a President so much as a King.  Barack the First has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?  It’d be one way to avoid listening to Bernie and Hilary snipe at The Donald for a whole ‘nuther year – cancel the elections and hold a Rose Garden coronation instead.  That whole 22nd Amendment thing – yeah, just ignore that.

I have this thing where I joke about something for years, and then find out it actually happened.

I’ve been joking about Barack Rex for quite some time now.

You smelling what I’m cooking?

  1. Yup! I do smell what the Mitch is cookin’.

With the elections just a year away now, there are a lot of people out there that think Barackus Obamanus I will orchestrate a false flag event in late September or early October in order to declare martial law. He will then delay or postpone the election indefinitely, for the “safety” of the citizens and hold on to power.

Conspiracy theory or not, the more I witness the economic ineptitude and moral corruption of the left, the more I believe that this is likely to happen.

  2. not unthinkable
with lifting the sanctions on Iran (they get lots of cash and freedom to travel), our open borders and a supine ICE agency the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution could easily have 1,000 or more agents in place by this time next year. For that matter Hamas, Hezbolla or DPRK(who is still at war with us) could all have thoroughly infiltrated the country. If you think a little low tech sabotage wont hurt us consider what a raccoon can do to a power substation.

  3. Or compelled speech. Baker doesn’t make homosexual wedding cakes, she must be put out of business.
Starbucks doesn’t use Christmas cups, they are heros.

  4. I think what really has leftists upset, is the fact that dead White Men have so effectively stifled their take-over. It would be interesting to see what a leftist US Constitution would look like.

What say you Emery? What would you do if you had carte blanch to write up a new founding document?

  5. What or who will stop another executive order declaring 0bumbler King for Life? He’s been ignoring and running roughshod over the Constitution for 7 years.

  6. Regarding who commits half the murders, I’m actually pretty sure it’s actually 1% or so. About 12% of young people are black, but most of those murders are done by the males(6%), specifically males ages 15-30 (2%) who are among the third or so of blacks who are poor (.67%) and in gangs (< .5%).

Add in Hispanic, Caucasian and Asian gangs, you've got maybe .5%-1% of all people, and probably 4-8% of people you'll see on the streets of "bad" neighborhoods. The only group that compares in terms of lethality is abortionists.

  7. And suicides, don’t forget suicides. If only we banned guns, there would be no more suicides.

  8. Way back in 2010, I came up with my own little tinfoil hat theory: If Obama wins in 2012, there will not be a 2016 presidential election, and he won’t step down.

I had nothing to back up that theory other than my own observations of the increasing and accelerating tyranny of the left.

I have not seen one single thing coming from that man or his administration that has changed my stance that my theory won’t come true.

    Preachin’ to the choir.
