The Smell Of Defeat?

For well over a decade, “Protect MN” – it’s changed its name several times since it started way back when – has been the dotty, not-too-bright face of the gun control movement in Minnesota.

While the wave of Michael Bloomberg money in 2013 moved the center of gravity over to “Everytown for Gun Safety” and its “local” affiliate, Heather Martens has remained an inescapable farce in Minnesota politics.

Force. I meant force.  Honest.  I’ll catch it in post-production.  Sorry.

But a correspondent who follows these things found this bon mot during some recreational reading of state Campaign Finance Board filings.

Hmmmmm:

Protect MN 2015 Spending by mitchpberg

Protect MN spent $0 on lobbying in the 2015 session.

Wonder why that is?

My hunch:  The local gun control movement has entirely ceded the heavy lifting to the national groups like Michael Bloomberg’s “Everytown”, and has focused on its “strength”; babbling their delusional twaddle to the gullible.

But who’s minding the store for Big Minnesota GuN Control?

More on that later this week.

  1. ProtectMN has been pretty much muzzled by Bloomberg. They told the Magnificent 7 to sit down, and let the big boys handle it…. and Heather, Joan, Gary, et. al. to my shock, actually did…

Don’t want to give anything away… but that’s not working out well for Bloomberg either. 😉

  2. Bloomberg had 2 paid lobbyists. That didn’t come cheap. Did Bloomberg file a report with the CFB? Under an assumed name?
