Carnival Of Doakes

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

Complaints about how the Obamacare Outreach contracts were awarded.

The complainers’ logic escapes me: only Blacks can reach out to to other Blacks to give them free stuff, they won’t accept it from Whites? Or do you fear White Minnesota Democrats are 1963 racists who will intentionally exclude Blacks from the free stuff, Jim-Crow style? Is this about race at all, or is it about who gets the taxpayer-funded make-work job?

Obama says bombing Syria will prevent Assad from using chemical weapons again, which will deter everybody else from acquiring and using them, which makes our own children safer in the long run.

Condensed version: bomb Syria, for the children.

New “study” proves federally funded early childhood education programs will save Minnesota 4.8 billion in prison costs.

Look for details on this – Dakota County Attorney Jim Backstrom is involved so we know it’s anti-gun.

A guy with a sawed-off shotgun arrested in Burnsville.

You see, this is why we need universal background checks, to prevent guys like this from carrying sawed-off shotguns into banks and convenience stores. Because although he’s already a career criminal who ignored half-a-dozen laws to commit this crime, he’ll surely obey the next law. Or the one after that. Or the one . . . .

Windmills kill eagles.

So is that too many dead eagles, or not enough? How many dead eagles is too many dead eagles, if the goal is to achieve energy independence? You want green energy or not?

———-

Car bomb explodes on 9/11 outside building formerly used as US Consulate in Benghazi.

It’s empty (except for FBI investigators still trying to figure out what happened there a year ago when a bunch of film critics chased us away) so no important American officials killed this time. But bombs are used to send a message (see: Johnson in Vietnam, Obama in Syria). The message Al Qaeda sent with this bomb: “And don’t come back!”

Joe Doakes

“Hit the road, Barack”.

Which eagle shall be the last to die for a mistake?

  2. Even with all that Joe, you missed…
Former KGB Honcho/future head of a reconstituted Ooh-Ess-Ess-Ahh/Evil Empire lecturing our Nobel Peace Prize winning President to stop bombing children and other living things (and that arms are for hugging you guys). And Putin also reminded Barry that he (Barry) was right when he said the United States wasn’t so exceptional.
You can’t make this stuff up!

  3. And isn’t there a commenter here at SitD that laments that due to its corporate ownership there is no way that the Democrat Dominated Media Culture is Democrat Dominated? The poor moderates – just keep getting whipsawed by the Regime everytime they get done lecturing us RWNJ’s on how little we know.

Answer this for me my betters… If my job was likely to be eliminated due to new technology making the content I produce obsolete even before it’s printed, do you think I’m going to make waves with a potential employer like The Regime by Speaking Truth to Their Power?
I imagine the initial meeting went like this…
Stengel: Hey Mr President, it’s great to be here.
Obama: Richard – Good to have you on MY team working at MY State Department and working with MY military and MY CIA.
Stengel: I have to say Mr President, I’m glad to be here. Here’s the main question I was asked to ask you by my former colleagues in Corporate Media, ugh, I know right? Have you been working out? I mean your glutes and pecs look fantastic.

  4. There is not, nor has there ever been, much support from Americans for the maintenance of Pax Americana. Americans saw the USSR as a threat that needed to be confronted in Europe and worldwide, and they were willing to fund the military and support various foreign governments to do that. Pax Americana came as a side benefit to fighting the cold war, but Americans always saw defeating communism as the goal, not establishing an American world order.

Now that communist ideology has been thoroughly defeated, Pax Americana has to justify its own existence, and it’s clearly failing. Americans fail to see the benefit of organizations like the WTO and the WHO, the benefits of providing a backstop for small neighbors of big bullies like China and Russia, the benefits of a world where being successful as a country is judged with the US as a benchmark (at least in poor countries; rich Europe has its own standards). The argument for punishing Assad is that we want to live in a world where despots hesitate to use chemical weapons. Is there a threat that chemical weapons will be used on Americans? No, not in the short or medium term. Many Americans are simply tired of being the hegemon. They don’t remember what the world was like when they weren’t the hegemon (many don’t even clearly remember the cold war), so they don’t fear a world which is not run with Americans rules and values. And that, I fear, is how the American empire, a virtual empire run at arms length, will fall. I do not know what will replace it, but I doubt if I will like the alternative. Pax Americana will end because America lost interest in it.

  5. Actually the world is remarkably calm relative to almost any time in the past. When Syria and eastern Congo are the worst conflicts on earth, you’ve got a pretty peaceful world.

Yes, the American military is quite costly, and probably could be less so with a little better management (more management by the Pentagon, less by Congress), Pax Americana and the system of world trade and world peace that it maintains is the source of a great deal of our wealth as a nation. We’re the only nation in the world that gets to play by our own rules. When we lose that, we lose a lot of power and wealth.
