Sarah Palin refuses to bounce on Oprah’s couch? Does she not know that the world revolves around her and “That One?”

“I said I would be happy to talk to Sarah Palin when the election was over… I went and tried to talk to Sarah Palin and instead she talked to Greta [Van Susteren]. She talked to Matt [Lauer]. She talked to Larry [King]. But she didn’t talk to me.”

Does that make Palin a racist?

  1. It makes Palin someone who’s learned the Dem playbook well. Palin would have given Oprah huge ratings and she decided she didn’t want to reward a explicit, notable partisan on the other side. Good job, Sarah!

  2. Haha, yeah, Palin’s real talented at figuring out the shows where the questions will be too hard.

Hey, remember McCain getting his ass kicked on The View?

  3. Gee, and I thought Palin was such an intellectual lightweight that she would be perfect for Oprah. Now it turns out that she’s smart enough to actually talk to an interviewer about real issues, not just feelings or hairstyles.

  4. J.R. Ewing said: “Gee, and I thought Palin was such an intellectual lightweight that she would be perfect for Oprah. Now it turns out that she’s smart enough to actually talk to an interviewer about real issues, not just feelings or hairstyles.”

Yeah, you post a link to the YouTube clip here if that ever happens. She’s a regular William F. Buckley, that one.

  5. When I see anyone’s rear end kicked on “The View,” I’m pretty much guaranteed that it refers to physical aggression, not anything involving the intellect.

A hearty “well done” to Gov. Palin for refusing to reward the games of Ms. Winfrey.

  6. People who already like Sarah Palin are not likely to be Oprah fans. People who voted for Obama because of Oprah’s endorsement are unlikely to become Palin voters. People who might be swayed to become Palin voters need to be convinced that she is as substantive a political leader as her supporters believe her to be.

Building her political credibility can be done on the mainstream political talk and interview shows. Coming on Oprah’s lightweight popcultural extravaganza will do nothing for Palin’s credibility, but would instead help pigeonhole her as a pop-cult phenom. If Oprah wanted to become a politically relevant venue, she should have had Palin on during the campaign.
