Did “That One” Forget That He Won the Election?

…he certainly didnt’ forget he’s a liberal.

…and he certainly didn’t forget his teleprompter…but it does appear someone set it up a bit too high. Barack Obama usually likes to look down on us angry Americans, not up to us.

Another campaign speech from the Office of the President-Elect. Thanks for the reminder el Presidente’. I think we know we are in a recession. Your people caused it, remember?

He throws a $150 Billion around like we have it. Folks, best hope for another World War because that’s what it took to pull us out of the Great Depression, which was extended by the last “New Deal.”

  1. His name is Barack Obama – please show him the respect he has won through being lawfully elected President-Elect of the United States.

    BTW – http://www.cnn.com/

Mitch predicted it would be 13 (or so) years from 2006 – or I suppose more accurately said we’d be there a long time, whether it was 13 years or 100 (as memory serves), after McCain said something about staying 100 years if necessary.

Well, the war isn’t over, the Shiia-Sunni divide is not resolved, Iran is still the major power broker in the county AND YET, the Iraqis NOT JOHN MCCAIN and NOT BARACK OBAMA, have decided we have three more years. I don’t think we need them, thankfully neither does the President-Elect, but it’s a FAR cry from 100 (or 13) – and proves yet again how out of touch with the reality on the ground McCain and the neo-con right were.

I agree we don’t have 150 Billion to throw around, talk about unrealities though, how did we somehow have $500 Billion (plus) to throw at Iraq? More than that, how did we think we had $4.3 Trillion to give away to the rich so that they could invest it in themselves and jobs in China?

Also J – you may want to look at unemployment rates in 1938, 1939, and 1940. This country was already WELL on it’s way to getting out of the Depression, and deficit spending reached an all-time peack DURING the Second World War as a percentage of GDP. Your facts are counter to themselves, and the fact is we had a BOOM from 1947 to 1975 or so, only killed by Vietnam, an oil embargo and the wilful dismantling of the Failr Labor Standards Practices Act. Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society no more killed our economy than had Social Security – if either had, we’d have been in a depression in the 50’s and 60’s and we weren’t, they were the ‘golden age’ of the American middle-class.

  2. “His name is Barack Obama – please show him the respect he has won through being lawfully elected President-Elect of the United States.”…………….Well, this right winger has pledged not to show Barry any less respect then the foaming Democrats showed for President Bush. ………..say, are those fake books behind The One? Kind of looks like South Park set.

  3. Mitch predicted it would be 13 (or so) years from 2006

Peev, you have this irritating habit of making things up as you go along.

I never “predicted” any such thing in regard to McCain’s statement. I said that serious fighting would wind down over time (as, indeed, it is).

    Please just stop.

  4. Oh, yeah – and Peev, shall I dig through the archives and find all the examples of corrosive disrespect you showed President Bush?

As to the rest of your very, very selective (and otherwise mistaken) reading of history – my head hurts just thinking about trying to parse it all. Maybe I’ll feel more ambitious later.

  5. I dunno if Peev was one of the folks who used disrespectful terms about, err, Chimpy McBushitler and the Rethuglocrats, but I think that this special pleading from the left is entirely unseemly.

That said, there are folks on the right who are arguing that righties ought not to to the others what was done to them, and I think that’s a POV worth considering.

One question, though, Peev — is it okay to mention Barack Obama’s middle name now? Just want to know if it’s become politically correct.

  6. Did penigma comment on my post? Oh, yea there it is. Wierd how the mind can block out the noise when it won’t stop. Sort of like how you can’t smell yourself sometimes.

  7. His name is Barack Obama – please show him the respect he has won through being lawfully elected President-Elect of the United States.

Within the past fifty years we called Dwight Eisenhower “Ike,” John Kennedy “JFK,” Lyndon Johnson “LBJ,” and George W. Bush “W.” We also have had presidents in recent years called Tricky Dick, Slick Willie, Jimmuh and Raygun. There’s a long, long history of being less than reverential when discussing our presidents, Peev. And you know that.

On January 20, Barack H. Obama will be my president. But he will not be my king or my God. And if I choose to be a bit of a wag in how I discuss him, I will do so. Even in this shining new era of Hope and Change, one thing that doesn’t change is the First Amendment.

And let’s dedicate this song to our better, Mr. Penigma:

  8. And if I choose to be a bit of a wag in how I discuss him, I will do so.

Especially since, I hasten to add, references to “the One” are not lampooning him so much as his more starstruck supporters.A fact that not a few commenters seem bent on ignoring.

  9. You’re right on, of course, Penigma. The wingnuts, who have been in charge of the administrative branch for the past eight years, the legislative branch for 6 of 8, won’t take responsibility for all the shit they caused (“It was the lib’rals!”) Pathetic, willfully ignorant wingnuts! I guess now that the country has turned against you it’s no time to expect you to join the reality-based community. Too painful. You’ll need another electoral bitch-slapping in ’12 to wake you up.

  10. I agree with Mitch. Also “Shrub,” “Resident Bush” and “Smirking Chimp” are completely acceptable.

  11. There you go again AC. Confusing RINO’s with Conservatives.

    (”It was the lib’rals!”)

Exactly. Liberals like Barney Frank and George W. Bush.

  12. “I guess now that the country has turned against you it’s no time to expect you to join the reality-based community.”
53%-47%. Get real, or I’ll revoke your membership in the Reality Based Community.
” the legislative branch for 6 of 8, won’t take responsibility for all the shit they caused (”It was the lib’rals!”)”
We won in Iraq. You guys wanted to bail. So screw you.

  13. “His name is Barack Obama – please show him the respect he has won through being lawfully elected President-Elect of the United States.

AMEN to this whole post. Geez, suddenly the left gets all reverential. Bunch of pukes.

  14. you may want to look at unemployment rates in 1938, 1939, and 1940. This country was already WELL on it’s way to getting out of the Depression,

    Well, yippity skippity!

Of course, without the “New Deal” we may well have gotten out of it by 1936 or 1937…

  15. Angry clown confuses a lot of things…

    but mostly reality & fiction.

The “Neo-cons” were playing your tune the last 8 years, just in a different key than you like.

There is absolutely ZERO historical evidence that this type of policy works, but tons that show it does not.

IF you can actually make an intelligent argument to the contrary, try it out. You have never shown any ability beyond making lame insults, & vague references to pop-culture, and occasionally stating the obvious, so I won’t hold my breath.

  16. Of course, without the “New Deal” we may well have gotten out of it by 1936 or 1937…

Had Coolidge ran for a second term, things would have been fine by summer 1930.

  17. Penigma,

How does Il Duce grab you? It’s very appropriate.

But considering AC’s odd past concern about the Republican’s appeal to the Hispanic vote, perhaps El Presidente’ is the better choice.

  18. His name is Barack Obama – please show him the respect he has won through being lawfully elected President-Elect of the United States.

This coming from the vapid putz who:

-has referred to President Bush on this blog as “Preznit Shrubby”.

-calls people pathetic yet comes back under various pseudonyms after being banned from this comment section at least three times.

-cites an anonymous “friend” who allegedly graduated from law school and then besmirches an actual attorney.

How does it feel to be an abject fraud, Peev?

  19. you may want to look at unemployment rates in 1938, 1939, and 1940.

1930- unemployment rate climbs from 3.2 to 8.7 percent.

1931- unemployment rises to 15.9 percent

1932- unemployment rises to 23.6 percent

1933- FDR inaugurated in March; Unemployment rises slightly, to 24.9 percent

1934- unemployment falls to 21.7 percent

1935- unemployment falls to 20.1 percent

1936- unemployment falls to 16.9 percent

1937- unemployment falls to 14.3 percent

1938- unemployment rises to 19.0 percent

1939- unemployment falls to 17.2 percent… as the world begins war time production

    1940- unemployment falls to 14.6

1941-unemployment falls to 9.9, US enters the war in December

    1942-unemployment falls to 4.7

So the real numbers show a severe increase in unemployment during the period that your hallucinations see a significant drop! and just like JRoosh said, the actual drop only came after war production began in 1939, & yes the US was in major production for the Allies long before we entered the war in late 1941.

You & AC must have went to the same public High School!

    Deafening crickets in 5…4…3…2…1…

  20. Of course the above is using only unemployment as a measure of economic growth, which is very narrow minded. Many, if not most, economists believe that the economy didn’t begin a true recovery until a few months after WWII was over.

But then the growing consensus is that the “crash of 1929” was a symptom, not the cause, of the world wide depression that had actually started in 1927-28.

  21. ‘Mitch’ ‘J’ and the rest of the mitchkateers who decry the ole “I know you are but what am I’ gambit, all stand in line, fighting over the micriphone, so they can use it themselves.

    Fricken joke!!

Shot in the Onion, not a serious word ever spoken again!

  22. Flash is demonstrating the new hybrid sock puppet model that the Soros has mandated to save resources….instead of burning brain cells (which are scarce in the Sorosphere), they are running their mouths on 100% thin air.
