As The Ironic Tsunami Rolls In

Businessman Scott Honour threw his hat into the ring for governor yesterday.

“I love Minnesota. But I fear that our state is headed in the wrong direction, and under the wrong leadership. I know that the same people with the same political resumes are not going to solve our problems,” Honour said in a mass email. Honour has not run for any major political office before in Minnesota and several Republicans have said they may be interesting in challenging Dayton as well.

As soon as Honour made the announcement, Carrie Lucking tweeted:

Lucking, of course, is Executive Assistant Director of “Alliance for a Better Minnesota”, an organization largely bankrolled by a Rockefeller heiress, largely launched to aid the career of a feckless trust-fund baby; the organization is attacking a guy who actually earned his money, unlike any of Lucking’s benefactors.

And so it’s on to another campaign battling for the low-information voter.

  1. What this ignorant, useful idiot really meant is; Our trust fund bankrolled ministry of libturd lies, misinformation, left wing propaganda and fraud, will do whatever we need to do to make sure that the useful idiot, low information voters, will not elect him.

  2. Let’s hope if Honour gets the nomination he doesn’t make the Emmer mistake and run as a functional libertarian. We need to beat Dayton this time.

  3. David, do we really need to beat Dayton this time with another big-government Republican?

    I am not saying this of Scott Honour, I do not know enough about him…yet. But I would prefer a functional libertarian than a “Republican” that somehow still believes that state government (the number one employer in the state) is still not quite big enough…and wants to “manage the growth” of state government.

    I read that Pawlenty might run for the US Senate…perhaps he can push for a nation-wide smoking ban…since the notion of private property rights is…so 18th century.

  6. There is no evidence to prove Honour has ever kicked a dog or drowned a kitten, but the seriousness of the questions demands an investigation. Common decency requires him to suspend his campaign until he has been cleared of these accusations, which we are confident will occur shortly after the election.

  7. It’s kinda cute how AFSCME and SEIU have to hide behind this front with the innocuous name “Alliance for a Better Minnesota”…I suppose it would have been overkill to call it “Flowers, Rainbows, Butterflies and Unicorns”.

  8. Gotta love how a woman bankrolled by trust fund babies with yachts, writing on behalf of trust fund babies with yachts, is picking on someone who earned his wealth because he lives on Lake Minnetonka and has a good sized boat.

    Lessee….yachts are a bad thing, unless the owner is John Kerry, a Kennedy, Mark Dayton, a Rockefeller,…..

    By the way, the # of yachts Romney owns is “0”, so Lucking (any relation to the guy at Walser?) can”t even get that fact straight.

    It’s also worth noting that Honour, as the owner of filling stations for LNG vehicles, is probably doing a lot more for the environment, yachts and all if he owns them, than most any Democrat.

    I’d rather have neither. I’d rather have a real Republican who doesn’t grow government at all and addresses the very real social and cultural problems in this state. Emmer wouldn’t touch the social issues and that is why, on election night, when they looked to the northern counties they didn’t get the numbers they expected (on the same night Cravaack was beating Oberstar).

  10. My personal favorite is former legislator Laura Brod. The GOP would be wise to choose a woman to run for Governor. I’m also expecting Senator Dave Thompson District from Lakeville to throw his hat in. Any candidates should look at the primary, the endorsement is as weak as it’s ever been because of the debt the party is in.
