Back To The Future

US Ambassador to Libya killed by “Islamic Protestors”.  Embassies getting stormed, burned.

Imagine how miuch worse it’d been if we hadn’t had The Light Worker making the US image abroad so very very squeaky clean.

  1. It’s not his fault. The mob was provoked. A film clip was posted to YouTube, from a film that may have been funded by a Christian minister from the USA, who once engaged in symbolic freedom of speech and thereby put the security of the entire nation at risk (our military being too weak and ineffectual to guarantee it).

You’re blaming Obama when he’s really the victim. You should be ashamed..

  2. Yes, we must scour the Youtube’s for anti-muslim content in order to ensure Obama is never again a victim. Hmm, thin-skinned president; thin-skinned religion. Just sayin’.

  3. Nate +1
American ProgLib reaction to this: Apologize to the mob that people – including an Israeli Jew and a Snake Handling Christian – in our country have the right of free speech, including making a joke of a fil, er a YouTube video. Hard to say you’re sorry when you have an RPG coming at you from a “peaceful” demonstration that “got out of hand” (to quote an MSNBC talking head).

  4. This never would have happened if Romney had released his tax returns.

True, Terry — Romney acted stupidly.

Also, it’s Bush’s fault. And can’t the president just eat his waffles?

  5. American ProgLib reaction to this: Apologize to the mob that people – including an Israeli Jew and a Snake Handling Christian – in our country have the right of free speech, including making a joke of a fil, er a YouTube video.

Umm, wasn’t that Obama’s first reaction, too? He’s walking that back now, but that was the State Department’s first reaction.

  6. World War One & Two were started by religionists?
You really should read Jonah Goldberg’s Tyranny of Cliches, “Sanity”. You might recognize your own thinking in it.
People have been warring over virtually everything for as long as man has been on the planet. The constant isn’t religion, it’s humanity.

  7. “Sanity”: You should change your name to “Ahistoricity”.

And most “religious” wars merely use religion as a cover for ethnic squabbles.

If the IRA and the Brits had all been Southern Baptists, they’d have still spent centuries killing each other.

  8. Religion is used in nearly every conflict, either to justify the conflict itself or to recruit men to willingly die in the fight.

  9. Patriotism is also used to recruit folks to willingly die, too.

I suppose that to be consistent “Sanity” would say that using religion to recruit men to free the slaves in the Civil War was a bad thing.

  10. “Sanity” paraphrased: No, no, my lefty cliche cannot possibly be wrong. I will not think more on this subject!

“Sanity” seems to see stupidity as a lifelong goal.

    Mission accomplished, “Sanity”! 🙂

  11. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. With lefty trolls the jokes just write themselves.

Tell you what (In)sanity, just post one more comment saying that religion is the cause of most wars, and you’ll feel better. I promise.

And the whole country will forget what a horrible foreign policy president Obama has been. No really, we will.

  12. Religion is used in nearly every conflict, either to justify the conflict itself or to recruit men to willingly die in the fight.

Approximately 2,000,000 people in and around Stalingrad had no comment.

  13. the Christian countries of Germany, Italy, France, England and the U.S. weren’t killing each other over dogma or doctrine, but the irony of the conflict wasn’t lost on people such as Bonhoeffer. It’s interesting (to me, anyway), though how Hitler and the National Socialists rejected the “weak, self-sacrificing” leadership of Christ and systematically co-opted or replaced the leaders of the German church with followers who embraced Hitler’s pre-Christian, Teutonic “Strong Father” image.

  14. You don’t think these people believe they are killing and dying for their Islamic beliefs?

    God Bless America.

  15. Sanity, no one is saying the islamos do not believe they are dying for their religion.

We are responding to your original comment (look, a squirrel) which was an attempt to switch the focus from the failed foreign policy of the current president to “religion”. That’s in scare quotes because you were not specific about which religion.

Furthermore, we are pointing out that the wars of the 20th century, which killed as many as 100 million, had nothing to do with religion.

  16. The Encyclopedia of Wars lists over 1,700 wars but attributes only 123 to religious causes. Blaming all religions for war is an American Liberal conceit.

On the other hand, certain religions certainly are more zealous which is why the vast majority of American ambassadors have been killed by Muslims. I don’t object to putting blame on religions that deserve it. But Sanity, you paint with too broad a brush.
    .

  17. Sanity, Mr. D pointed it out with regard to Germany and Russia. Also think Japan and Every where in the Pacific. China, Russia, Philippines, Australia, Pearl Harbor(a territory of the US). Many islands and territories of other countries in the Pacific theatre.

And then going back in time you had the Romans and most of Europe, Britian, and North Africa. Or the Mongols and their quests.

And of course the US and Korea or Vietnam.

    Yup mostly all about religion.

  18. The events have me wondering what the reaction of our Jewish friends would have been if somone had done a film (or a you tube video for crying out loud) which defamed Abraham, Isaac or Jacob. hmmmmm

Yup, Islamofascism the religion and culture of peace!

  19. Insanity: Which church in South Minneapolis do you belong to? The fact is you can find any flavor of Christianity you want if you’re willing to shop. You can even find some churches that make God a generic ‘if it feels good, do it’ deity. More likely, there is but one god (small “g”) in your world. The fact is God IS at war and always has been. Your mission is to find out who He is and align yourself with Him.

  20. Islam is at war with everybody on the planet. Christian, Jew, Hindu, atheist and even other Muslims.

They have been at war for 1400 years and we must acknowledge that fact.

Our Consulate was reported to have been guarded by Libyan Security. If we can’t provide our own security in a region as unstable as the Middle East close the Embassies and Consulates.

  21. The motivation is not in doubt. CBS News relayed an AP wire story posted September 11:

“Wanis al-Sharef, a Libyan Interior Ministry official in Benghazi . . . said there had been threats that Islamic militants might try to take revenge for the death of al Qaeda’s No. 2 commander Abu Yahya al-Libi, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan in June, and he said the U.S. consulate should have been better protected. Confirming al-Libi’s death for the first time in a video posted online Monday, al Qaeda chief Ayman Al-Zawahri called on Muslim’s in al-Libi’s native Libya to take revenge for his death.”

So on Monday, September 10, Al Qaeda tells Libyans to get revenge on Americans and on Tuesday, September 11, Libyans attack the American consulate, betray the Ambassador’s safe house, kill him and post a photo of his body being dragged through the streets (European media has it up).

But it’s all about some jackass YouTube film clip? Nonsense, that’s a cover story for American Liberals like Sanity, who want to blame American Jews and Christians for provoking Muslim violence under the “look what you made me do” standard used by abusers everywhere. Sad to say, it’s working.

  22. “Religion: Fuel for starting wars since the stone age.”

Wow. If only Stalin, Ho Chi Minh, Kruschev, Mao, Castro, and other Communist leaders had been atheistic, think of all the lives that could have been saved–I believe over 200 million in the past century is the number. But darn it, they were obviously fundamental Baptists or something like that.

  23. But it’s all about some jackass YouTube film clip?

No, that was just used as cover. It was an AQ revenge attack. Protesters don’t generally carry RPGs. They chose 9/11 for a reason.

“A London think tank with strong ties to Libya speculated Wednesday that Stevens was actually the victim of a targeted al Qaeda revenge attack.

The assault “came to avenge the death of Abu Yaya al-Libi, al Qaeda’s second in command killed a few months ago,” the think tank Quilliam said Wednesday. It was “the work of roughly 20 militants, prepared for a military assault,” the think tank said, noting that rocket-propelled grenade launchers do not normally appear at peaceful protests, and that there were no other protests against the film elsewhere in Libya.

The planned attack came in two waves, one which prompted U.S. officials to leave the consulate for a secure location. The second wave was directed at the place of retreat, Quilliam said, citing unnamed sources on the ground in Benghazi and abroad.

“These are acts committed by uncontrollable jihadist groups. We hope Libya will seize this opportunity to revive its policy of Disarmament, Demobilisation and Re-integration (DDR) in order to facilitate an end to the spread of such attacks, with help of the International Community,” Noman Benotman, President of Quilliam, said in a press release. “We hope that the International Community, including NATO member states and especially the U.S., will continue their excellent work in Libya which began with the overthrow of the dictator Gadhafi after 42 years in power.”

  24. “Religion: Fuel for starting wars since the stone age.”
“No, that was just used as cover. It was an AQ revenge attack. Protesters don’t
generally carry RPGs. They chose 9/11 for a reason.”
    Talk about whipsawing the narrative.
What “Sanity” writes immediately above appears to be what this is about. Dominant Media Culture covering for Barry aside – that this has anything to do with Romney’s statement on the US Embassy/Cairo’s statement on the YouTube video by a real estate developer “The Israeli Jew” and that Florida Snake Handler – this does appear to be some kind of AQ revenge attack.
Could it be the Demo’s “spiking the ball” last week regarding OBL’s killing? When they were treated to John Kerry’s bragging that OBL is worse off than he was four years ago? Think that might have set off a plan for a little payback?
Another worry is that someone in Libya’s Arab Spring movement gave up the Ambassadors’ safe house locale to the AQ mob – this doesn’t look very good for Sec State Clinton or the President, not good at all.
Blame George Bu, er, a, Romney time!

  25. The White House also walked away from the US Embassy/Cairo’s statement that Romney was criticizing. And the attacks were in Libya after Romney’s criticism. Then Romney had a press conference and took questions – which we know now due to an open ‘hot’ mic – were coordinated attack by the unbiased media while Barry made a statement and headed out the door. Which one looks more Presidential?

  26. First:
“Religion: Fuel for starting wars since the stone age”
    Then:
“It was an AQ revenge attack.”

Seems to be kind of a revolving door for you Sanity.

  27. “Talk about whipsawing the narrative.”

I’m not sure how it whipsaws anything. Al Qaeda is Islamic (religious) extremists.

  28. “Religion: Fuel for starting wars since the stone age”
    Then:
“It was an AQ revenge attack.”

AQ is a religious organization. Radical Islam.

The terror is being perpetrated by a religious group (Islam is a religion).

  29. “Which one looks more Presidential?”

The one who is the President. He looks very Presidential with a White House behind him, not to mention his AQ kill credentials. Very impressive right now.

  30. I wonder if this incident (and more coming soon, no doubt) will convince some folks on the liberal side of the aisle that killing Bin Laden wasn’t the be-all end-all they seemed to believe it was ……?

  31. “will convince some folks on the liberal side of the aisle that killing Bin Laden wasn’t the be-all end-all they seemed to believe it was ……?”

Imagine what it would be like if OBL were still alive to lead this movement. I’m on the liberal side (and take the heat for it here) and it has convinced me that a) going after AQ operatives was the right thing to do (they are a dangerous bunch and everything should be done to weaken their network), and b) clearly, there’s still some mopping up work to be done.

If we re-elect him he’ll continue to work to get this job done.

Even liberals don’t like terrorists. Imagine that . . .

  32. “Even liberals don’t like terrorists. Imagine that ”

Bill Ayers, Kathleen Soliah, Che all seem to be well accepted by liberals.

  33. Even liberals don’t like terrorists. Imagine that . . .
Bill Ayers called, “Sanity”, he’d like a word with you.
In English class our teacher taught us to put quotes around a word if it was used in a “unique or special way”.

  34. Let’s use use “Sanity”‘s disingenuous statement, Even liberals don’t like terrorists to take a look at the choices Obama made when he entered into politics shall we?
He moved to Chicago, a place where he had no history or family ties, but that is known for its brazen corruption by public officials. (Oh, please do question this, “Sanity”, you’ll go down in flames). Obama’s political career was launched by two people, Tony Rezko, who gave Obama his first political donation, and Bill Ayers, who threw a sort of “coming out party” for Obama during which Ayers introduced Obama to the players in Chicago & Illinois Democrat politics.
Rezko was a crooked developer and (now) a convicted felon.
Chicago has a lot of “public/private partnerships” involved in low income housing. If you are a Chicago pol, this public/private operation opens up avenues to corruption and wealth because some of the money (often the largest part) is provided by corporations whose spending is not held accountable by the public. It works like this: company A decides to build a luxury high-rise tower. The city tells company that it can only do that if it funds an agency that will build low cost housing in the city.
Then the floodgates open and the money gets spread around.
Rezko was the devloper who contracted to build these tenements. Valerie Jarret was an executive at an agency that managed the tenements. Obama’s law firm, Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, represented a lot of these tenement developers and management agencies. That’s how Obama met both Rezko and Jarret.
Rezko got his beak in too deep and was convicted of money laundering, corrupt solicitation, and wire fraud. The case involved the extortion of millions of $ from businesses who wanted to contract with the Illinois Teachers System Board. Rezko paid Blago to appoint Obama’s old boss at Davin, Miner, Barnhill and Galland to the Illinois investment board.
Rezko’s conviction was in 2006. This ain’t ancient history. In fact Rezko’s prosecutor showed that some of the extortion money went to fund an Illinois politician’s 2004 run for national office. The politician’s name wasn’t mentioned, but the description only fits Barack Hussein Obama’s 2004 run for the U.S. senate.
Enough. I’ve gone to long and I haven’t started on Ayers, terrorist, wannabe murderer of working people, and celebrated liberal lion of Obama’s Chicago.

  35. That’s why Obama is going after those AQ operatives like a madman, right? Oh yeah, it’s because liberals LOVE terrorists!

Good grief . . . if you believe the stuff you are spewing you guys live in some kind of fact-deprived paranoid delusional paradise.

  36. Get a grip, “Sanity”. You made an absurd statement: “Even liberals don’t like terrorists. Imagine that . . .”
The current president was a close political ally of Bill Ayers, an unrepentant domestic terrorist.
Had you forgotten about Ayers? Or were you just blathering aimlessly again? Obviously Obama has no principle that keeps him from palling around with terrorists per se.
And everything I’ve written about Obama & Rezko comes from mainstream, big city newspapers. You know, like the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/11/AR2006101100918.html

The indictment accused Rezko and Levine of hatching their scheme in 2003, when they agreed to divert $250,000 out of a $375,000 “finder’s fee” paid by an investment firm that received $50 million in assets to invest for the state’s Teachers Retirement System.
The state Teachers Retirement System mentioned is the board that Allison Davis — Obama’s boss at the 13-lawyer law firm Davis, Miner, Barnhill, and Gilland — was appointed to by Blago at Rezko’s insistence.
    And there is this:
    http://articles.latimes.com/2008/apr/06/nation/na-obamalegal6
    There is much, much more.
Obama swam in this sewer for thirteen years, from 1993 until 2006 when Fitzgerald brought the hammer down on Rezko and Blagojovich.

  37. “pro US rally in Bhengazi today”. Twenty-four hours later the wishful thinking there has mashed up against reality – again.

“Going after AQ Operatives was the right thing to do” – tough call! How about that “you’re either with us or your against us” concept ?? Not sure everyone saw the wisdom in that “cowboy diplomacy” at the time

The 1st rule of holes comes to mind as I read through these comments
