  1. Three of questions come to mind.
1st, is there enough bandwidth now that he can really write everything that comes to mind and
2nd, will he investigate into these new fangled things called QUOTE MARKs so that when he cuts and pastes entire posts of Mitch so he can comment under them, we can tell who is saying what?
3rd. Will AC make the jump over there? Might be people from the midwest (ie Nazi’s) visiting.

  2. Well, there is 15 minutes I will never get back. Fascinated by his refusal to put this blog on his list of sites he visits. Factually inaccuracies are scattered all over the place, and probable the best part is the warning against flame wars and trolls. No comments just yet, so that policy remains theoretical at the moment. Oh, and he apparently considers himself a centrist.

  3. Also, will he do anything other than snark, that sin for which he condemns others while he stands in it knee-deep?

  4. “He told me he was a conservative.”
Yet another occasion to quote from “The Princess Bride”. But I am trying to cut down.

  5. We may see one of two possible outcomes:

Writing for his own blog will diminish the length of his comments here, or writing for his own blog will greatly expand the length of his comments here. Yikes!

    😮

  6. Badda,

I NEVER once said I was a conservative. And a complaint about snark, from the King of Snark, is kinda funny.

As far as length of posts go, Mitch certainly has written many longer posts – but whatever, complain all ya’ like.

Whomever it was (and I don’t care enough to even scroll up) – if you think my facts are inaccurate, ok, tell me which ones – and I’ll be happy to provide whatever substantiation I can readily find, however, if you’re going to be gutless and just make the claim on Mitch’s blog – my reaction is ‘tough beans’, grow some balls.

Buzz, if you looked, you’d see commentary is centrist. Try the one out where I blast Democrats for their feigned seriousness about oil prices, or the other where I defend McCain and attack those who are attacking McCain based on age, if you perceive I’m not a centrist. BTW, I DO in fact refer to Shot in the Dark – I’ll change the title – Mitch was respectful – I should have been (apologies Mitch). Fair warning though, if you go there and make comments about commenters that they are ‘obviously clinically insane’ or other such things, especially if you’d be considere qualified to comment – I’ll strike your comments and send you a warning. Do it twice, you’ll be gone.

The single most important issue upon which you likely wouldn’t see me as a centrist is that I think the split of profits in the US between corporate leaders and labor, is WAYYY out of whack. Funny thing though, my conservative friends who work in the Financial Services sector, agree completely. They think focusing the money both back into wages and retirement is a better bet – whereas I’m more inclined to push it predominately into wages as that’s what REALLY drives an economy (no, not tax cuts – they agree that’s just Republican propoganda). That’s certainly a ‘new deal’ idea, but one that addresses more effectively the problem of wages being flat than constantly blaming the government ever will.

“…I’ll strike your comments and send you a warning. Do it twice, you’ll be gone.”

Hmmm. He can dish it out but he can’t take it… is that what he’s saying?

  8. I wonder if he’s going to use his blog as a Anti-Shot in the Dark forum… “countering” various posts from Mitch and numerous commentors.

  9. Damn. It’s like I cursed the thread or something.

    OK. Let’s try this:

The Cubs / Vikings / Fighting Irish are going all the way this year!

  10. my conservative friends who work in the Financial Services sector, agree completely.

Oddly enough, my liberal friends who work in “financial services”, economics, tax policy and capital investment universally disagree, and think I’m decades ahead of my time.

Huh? “What friends?”, you may ask? It’d be a very valid question, since not only does nobody have the faintest idea who your friends and their qualifications are, but nobody knows anything about you either.

Look, Peev – since you’ve taken the plunge and started a blog (and I sincerely congratulate you on it, and hope you enjoy it), here’s a word to the wise; when you cite “friends” who agree with you through two layers of anonymity, it doesn’t carry all that much weight. You might want to either find some more-public source of data to support the assertion, or start giving your reader some other reason to verify what you’re saying.

Which isn’t to say there isn’t some reason to occasionally cite anonymous contacts; I do it, occasionally, with people whose identities I hold in confidence. They are fairly-highly-placed journalists, politicians and staffers, military people – and they can’t go on the record. It’s incumbent on the blogger in those circumstances to either find some independent support for the statements, or accept that the credibility of the statement is going to get attenuated through the “I got this friend, y’see…” filter.

  11. “Whomever it was (and I don’t care enough to even scroll up) – if you think my facts are inaccurate,”

That was me. I choose not to engage in a endless string of parsing and excuse making.

“I can readily find, however, if you’re going to be gutless and just make the claim on Mitch’s blog – my reaction is ‘tough beans’, grow some balls.”

While your sudden interest in my balls somewhat concern me, I made the comment on this blog since this is the only that directed me to yours, and that I didn’t want the dishonor of being the first (only?) comment on your site. The comment was not directed at you (another reason not to make it there) but rather as a warning to others who might go there from here to expect really nothing different from you.

“Buzz, if you looked, you’d see commentary is centrist.”
Not only looked, but read the entire blog. Sadly, I have also read you near infinite commits on this blog. Your history didn’t start the day you finally started your own blog.

“The single most important issue upon which you likely wouldn’t see me as a centrist is that I think the split of profits in the US between corporate leaders and labor, is WAYYY out of whack.”

Well then, when you own your own company you can pay your management and your labor whatever you want. On companies that I personally do not own I generally think they should pay whatever the market demands. If they want to keep the good workers, they will pay them better. Same thing with management. But, as I stated, since I have no financial interest in these companies, it certainly isn’t my place to dictate how they allocate their payroll.

  12. Oh, yeah – and doesn’t it stand to reason that “financial services” people will want wage increases, regardless of their politics?

  13. Peev:
    1. I oppose gun control
    2. I support capital punishment IF the guilt of the accused can be established AND it’s not a crime of passion/rage.
    3. I generally oppose late-term abortion in all forms except to save the life of the mother
    4. I oppose all gender or race based quotas
    5. I steadfastly oppose expansion of federal rights upon states except in exigent circumstances…
    6. I also oppose giving huge tax breaks to corporations…
    7. I strongly support fiscal responsibility in government…
    8. I oppose affirmative action and always will…

Just so you you know what he said. He also said (without any support or evidence) that I am what he calls a far extreme right-leaner/conservatives… and added that conservatives are steeped in hate.

He’s also said (as you know) a number of other loony things.

  14. Mazel Tov, Peev. May your blog be a point of light shining into the wingnut darkness.

  15. Inspired in part by Peev, Angryclown has decided to start his own video blog. Of course you midwestern wingnuts will be permitted to view all of the entries, but any comments will be closely reviewed, edited and mocked by Angryclown. But if you are open to confronting and trying to dispel your ignorance, you are welcome.

With that I give you the first installment of the Angryclown video blog. It’s intended to give Angryclown fans a peek into his day to day life and to introduce him to people who may not have had the chance to benefit from his wisdom. Learn and enjoy.

  16. hmmm. Well, to start with there is no such thing as far extreme right-leaner. If you’re just leaning you haven’t made it to the far extreme yet. It’s like calling a virgin far extreme pregnant because she is thinking about getting married and having kids. As far as conservatives being steeped in hate, he clearly (as has AC) confused his stereotyped caricature of a conservative for the real thing. Either than or there is a tremendous amount of projection going on.

  17. “Or shall we simply have George Bush – with whom McCain has marched in lock-step for 6 long, painful years – painful for Veterans most of all – shall we have George Bush appear at the Republican Convention, salute us all and say “Reporting for Duty!”

Yes, truly a shining point of light.

Might want to step into that way back time machine and re-examine that sentence.

  18. Buzz,
Right-leaner and Left-leaner are not terms I use for moderates… I don’t think anyone else usse the term either. I just use it for the Right and the Left. Peev claims that a number of us are far-right extremists, hateful, bigoted, and… aw, you know what the guy says.

They are the same talking-points various left-leaning bloggers use to describe anyone to the right of Stalin, Lenin, Che, Engles, and Marx.

  19. No problem, Buzz… I didn’t think you were. I figured I should clarify myself since it was kind of vague.

You know, like when you hit Submit after saying about 1700 to 2200 words in one comment and then realized you should have used between 2900 and 4100 words.
    😉

  20. No, Paul, although AC did okay in the ‘hang out in the sewer’ part of the audition, he wasn’t funny enough to be Pennywise. Plus he tried to bite the other actors.

  21. I think that peevish getting his own blog is a genuine cause for celebration.

The best of luck to you, peevish, in this endeavour! 🙂
