When I got my scuba diving cert, took my classes through an instructor who was also the diver Stearns County typically used when they had a vehicle/icehouse/person/etc through the ice. Basically he’d go down, retrieve the bodies, attached the cables, etc.
I asked him what it was like going down and retrieving bodies. He replied that it actually wasn’t as bad as you’d think. He said the problem is when you find bodies you’re not expecting to find.
