One Team Crosses Figurative Line More Often Than Other: Hypster/Sports Cynic/Wahhabi Atheist Worldviews Challenged

Tim Tebow beats the Steelers, credits God, moves on:

“When I saw him scoring, first of all, I just thought, `Thank you, Lord,”‘ Tebow said. “Then, I was running pretty fast, chasing him — Like I can catch up to D.T! Then I just jumped into the stands, first time I’ve done that. That was fun. Then, got on a knee and thanked the Lord again and tried to celebrate with my teammates and the fans.”

Behind Tebow’s 316 yards passing, the Broncos (9-8) are heading to New England for a second-round game against the top-seeded Patriots on Saturday night.

And let the caterwauling begin.

  1. My friend Gino, who is a blogger out in California, asked the following question on his blog:

Just curious… would a proper feminist be upset that Tebow won, or happy that Roethlisberger lost?
Must have been a moral dilemma watching that game.

    Heh.

  2. , I just thought, “Thank you, Lord”

I’ve always wondered, just who are atheists thanking at Thanksgiving? Darwin? Einstein? Newton?

  3. As some noted elsewhere – 316 yards. Rainbow Wig Man/Dude sign: John 3:16. Coincedence? Hmm. Irony meter going off? Only if you are stupid.

  4. Tweet from Iowahawk: “Tim Tebow has the miraculous power to cause assholes to self-identify.”

  5. Honestly, I just don’t think that The Lord is all that interested in the outcome of football games, but I see no harm in Tebow’s belief that He is.

  6. Well, me either – although I can barely be bothered to care about anyone but the Bears (and the NDSU Bison) myself, which may skew my point of view.

And nearest I’ve seen (and I admit I’m not a dispositive source) I don’t think Tebow believes He supports the Broncos; merely that He gets credit for anything Tebow brings to the game. Someone stop me if I’m wrong.
