Never Waste A Crisis: Day 3

Carolyn McCarthy (Ghoul, NY) has a sweeping new gun control bill already written:

One of the fiercest gun-control advocates in Congress, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), pounced on the shooting massacre in Tucson Sunday, promising to introduce legislation as soon as Monday.

McCarthy ran for Congress after her husband was gunned down and her son seriously injured in a shooting in 1993 on a Long Island commuter train.

Make sure your Dem friends catch that icky little irony; McCarthy’s husband was killed on a train in a city with among the stiffest gun control laws in the country, then and now.  Those laws served only to make Rep. McCarthy’s late husband and the rest of the victims on the LIRR train sitting ducks for Colin Ferguson – an earlier generation of insane shooter.

“My staff is working on looking at the different legislation fixes that we might be able to do and we might be able to introduce as early as tomorrow,” McCarthy told POLITICO in a Sunday afternoon phone interview.

36 hours flat.

What a deeply depraved woman.

  1. Yeah, cause what would Carolyn McCarthy know about gun violence. She must be wunna them limousine lib’rals. Oh, right, her husband was killed and her son grievously wounded by some nut with a gun on the LIRR.

Good to know you all are on the side of the kooks.

  2. I’m sure she has legislation already pre-written, ready to roll out as a potential sympathy grab for these exact types of situations.

    IMO, three simple letters: D.O.A.

  3. Good to see you’re on the side of Lee Harvey Oswald, Sirhan Sirhan, James Earl Ray, Colin Ferguson, Charles Whitman, James Oliver Huberty, Seung-Hui Cho, Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, et al., you silly douchebag, Bill C.

  4. Good to see you’re on the side of Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Castro, Mussolini, Mao Tze Tung, Chavez, Marx, et al., you silly douchebag, angryclown

  5. I don’t see it as “being on the side of …” but rather think about the fact that politicians have bills ready to go but hold them until something bad happens that their bill “would have stopped”. If you really think that the bill is good for the country and is constitutional then just present the bill in committee and let it sink or swim on its own merit. The Dems have gun control laws ready for this type of incident and cyberspace control laws for virii, hacks and cyberbullying. The GOP had the Patriot Act ready for months before 9/11 and were all over the DMCA for months before major movies and music albums were leaked on the WWW and only released it afterwards…. Just let bills be bills and not play the politics of “we can stop this from ever happening if only you pass MY bill I drafted *this week*”
The best laws are the ones drawn up and worked on without some dark cloud overshadowing the creation of them…. Fast laws make for sloppy laws.
