ICE, ICE Baby

You can’t eliminate supply until you eliminate demand; otherwise, somebody is always willing to meet the demand – we learned that in Prohibition, and the War on Drugs.
If restaurant managers create the demand for illegal aliens, we need to educate restaurant managers not to do that.  And by “educate,” I mean “learn to make license plates at Stillwater.”
Of course, the restaurant managers can defend saying “I thought she was legal,” same as any bartender who cards a college kid.  Show me what steps you took to verify identity and eligibility to work here.  Didn’t bother to look too hard, afraid of what you might find?  Weren’t willing to pay the wages an American demanded so you hired an illegal do to the work Americans would do – for that price?  Sucks to be you, Mr. Restaurant Manager.  You broke the law.
Notice who’s being targeted for deportation: families who have received deportation orders.  These aren’t refugees, they aren’t asylum seekers, these are people who had a court hearing and LOST.  They were ordered to leave and are defying the court order.  I’d like to see anybody else get away with that.  Just refuse to pay your child support and see what happens.
Joe Doakes

Would that they’d develop the same consideration for IRS courts.

But that’s just crazy talk.

Unquestionable

Big fight over whether the Trump Administration can ask census respondents about their citizenship. The census is used to determine who gets seats in the House of Representatives. So the real issue becomes who are we counting them for?
If the House of Representatives is supposed to represent the citizens living in a district, then we need to know how many of the people responding to the census are citizens. They’re the only ones who should count in determining proportional representation.
If the House is supposed to represent all the residents of a district, then we don’t care about citizenship.
I strongly suspect this is a holdover from slavery days. Slaves didn’t count as full citizens for purposes of proportional representation. And neither do illegal aliens. But people who think they will pick up votes, want them to.
I doubt counting foreigners was the intent of the framers of the Constitution. I foubt counting illegal aliens was the intent of the Voting Rights Act. I think Americans all along, have wanted the House to represent the citizens who reside in the district, not everybody wandering through the district.
I don’t think the court should be meddling with that intent. Add the question.
Joe doakes

I coudln’t agree more. Of all the great scams that Big Left has foisted on us, positing open borders as “kindness” is the most cynical of all.

Arsenal Of Hospitality

SCENE: Mitch BERG is taking a walk through a local winery, when he notices Avery LIBRELLE trying to open the tap at the bottom. He tries to reverse course, but LIBRELLE, as always, notices him.

LIBRELLE: Merg! You’re a racist misogynist!

BERG: Uh, OK. Why now?

LIBRELLE: On, no reason. It’s just my new greeting. But Trump is holding children in squalor on the border.

BERG: Separating kids from their parents is a bad thing. But this speaks to the same incompetence that covers most aspects of dealing with the bureaucracy. Nothing to see here.

LIBRELLE: We must treat pre-documented immigrants of color with the respect they deserve.

BERG: Question for you, Avery. Is the US the world’s policeman?

LIBRELLE: No. We can not solve all the world’s problems with the military.

BERG: OK. Are we the the world’s moral arbiter?

LIBRELLE: It is to laugh! We are the most corrupt, least just society on earth!

BERG: Huh. Is the spread of American culture through the world a good thing?

LIBRELLE: We have the most despicable culture there is, buried to its eyeballs in racism and hate. The world’s authentic cultures must be preserved.

BERG: Does the US have anything to teach the world?

LIBRELLE: How to be hateful and horrible.

BERG: So can we keep people from coming here, with or without regard to the law?

LIBRELLE: What are you, a fascist? Everyone has an absolute right to come to the US!

BERG: So if someone comes to this country illegally, or uses an exceptionally broad asylum statute to gain entry to this hateful, horrible, despicable, racist, corrupt, militaristic place, then we are in fact the world’s ATM machine?

LIBRELLE: Why yes! (Turns back to trying to open the tap on the fermentation keg).

BERG: I know I’ll hate myself for asking, but what are you doing?

LIBRELLE: Wine is an appropriation of California culture.

BERG: Of course it is.

And SCENE

The New Racket

A refugee who wants to come to the United States can apply and wait for approval.  May take years.  Meanwhile, you sit in the refugee camp overseas.
A person who sneaks into the United States can apply for asylum.  Your approval also may take years.  But meanwhile, you’re released into the United States and given a work permit and relocation benefits.
A person who sneaks into the United States and claims to be an unaccompanied minor seeking asylum, gets all of that plus extra cash and benefits.
A person who sneaks into the United States and claims to be an unaccompanied minor trans-gender seeking asylum, gets all of that plus extra cash and benefits and now might receive even better preferential treatment.
No documentation is required for any of this stuff.  In fact, if you have it, it can be used against you.  So nobody has any papers when they arrive, the entire system is based on verbal claims.
Now I ax ya . . . if you wanted to get into the United States plus maximize your benefits, what story would you tell?

The story that was given to you by those who want your vote in exchange, that’s who.

Heads We Come Here, Tails We Move Here

Last week, I was listening to NPR.

I know, I know. Worth with me, here.

I can’t find it online – I didn’t try all that hard, but then I suspect it’s not the only piece like this. that’s going to turn up if you look hard enough.

An earnest-sounding SEIU leader – y’know, a non-biased, politically-objective source, solemnly intoned:

“We don’t want to politicize the border and immigration issue . We just want policy to reflect the changing patterns of migration”

In other words: we want “ignore the national boundary so that people can migrate north to join our power base” to become the new normal.

Oddly, the NPR host said nothing about this.

Why, It’s Almost As If That Were The Plan

Booming foreign-born populations, highly dependent on big government, lead to electoral sweeps.

The biggest problem with the huge numbers of Somali immigrants isn’t that they’re Muslim, or the possibility that less than a percent of Minnesota’s population might “impose Sharia law”.  ‘

It’s that they support “progressivism” today.  And “progressivism” is the one ideology that can destroy America.

Grab Your Transfer

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

Fox News reports that the ‘caravan’ migrants are boarding busses chartered by the local government in Mexico.  They don’t want the migrants in their area so they’re paying for busses to ship the migrants North, passing the buck to America.

Can’t blame them.  Can we hire busses to ship them to Canada?

Nice idea – but the Canadians actually enforce their borders and immigration rules.

The Human Shell Game

A friend of the blog writes:

Looking at the video footage of the “Caravan” I was reminded of the Carter tenure when the Mariel Boatlift happened. Then as now a compliant MSM was thrilled at the prospect of capturing all the touching, even heart-wrenching, human interest stories of photogenic brown-skinned people being pulled from the drink while the likes of Dan Rather or David Brinkley uttered cliched platitudes in the voiceover. It was campaign gold for the Democrats who could burnish their bona fides with the non-white voting block they wished to keep on the plantation.

The Marielitos were the solution to a few problems for Castro too. In the process Castro dumped 127,000 of his citizens;  all his mentally ill, incorrigible criminals, homosexuals, anti-socialists, and political disidents onto the US. He was also able to smuggle, according to one congressional hearing source nearly 7,000 intelligence agents and drug running logistics experts into the US for long term intelligence gathering, while locking up and exploiting the burgeoning drug market.  At least 300 of the spies were rolled up in the 1st couple years which lead to “The Year of the Spy”. The NYT addresses the Marielito spies in this article(paywall):

https://www.nytimes.com/1983/05/01/us/cuban-ties-boatlift-to-drug-trade.html
here’s a pull quote:
“The Cuban Government used the 1980 Mariel boatlift to send as many as 7,000 spies to the United States, some of whom were ordered to help drug smugglers ”flood” this country with illegal narcotics, one such spy said today.
The Cuban agent, Mario Estevez Gonzalez, testifying at a United States Senate hearing here, said some of the spies travel freely in small boats between their Communist homeland and the United States. Mr. Estevez, who has been convicted of drug smuggling, said some agents were in this country for propaganda purposes and others were to create ”chaos” in the event of war.”

The Miami Herald from the same date had this story;
http://www.latinamericanstudies.org/drugs/testimony.htm
this pull quote underscores the issue
“The U.S. ambassador to Colombia, Thomas Boyatt, was more blunt.
“I’m telling you that it happened,” he insisted during an interview before his testimony. “The Cuban government, as a matter of policy, for a long period of time, until exposed, was involved in drug smuggling.
“It was a [Cuban intelligence] operation with the blessing of Fidel,” he said. “

Leftists suffer from severely retarded imaginations (just look at Hollywood’s output for the last 10 years) but when they hit on something that seems to work they do it over and over. The Mariel Boatlift worked and would have been even more successful had Jimmy Carter not lost his re-election bid. Reagan wasn’t having any.
There is no reason to believe that the current Caravan is not another form of the Mariel Boatlift, already another Caravan has formed in El Salvador,  soon there will be another. The Socialists(Communists)and Castro proteges, Maduro, Castro and Ortega, all recognize that the Mariel Boatlift was a hugely successful intelligence operation and they profited enormously from the spy networks established in the 80s by Castro that survived Reagan’s spy hunt.

This Caravan solves a problem that the Tyrannical Troika has been struggling with; how to get identities and access to the US for their agents. The Caravan made up seemingly of compasinos with little or no documentation show up “seeking asylum” and the first thing the US govt does is generate identity paperwork for them, those who survive the asylum vetting process are embraced without further suspicion and best of all in 5 or 7 years when they become active they’ll have USA passports and identities. That’ll all work out well.

Now am I just a cynical bastard for thinking that 300-400 of these Caravanistas are actually intelligence agents from Venezuela, Cuba, and El Salvador? Time will tell.
Just because you’re cynical doesn’t mean you’re not right.

Skal Ethiopia!

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

If the Prime Minister of Norway came to Minnesota, would she get an exuberant reception from crowds of Minnesota Norwegians?  I suspect not, because for Americans, being of Norwegian extraction is not a core identity, it’s a footnote.  That’s what happens when people assimilate: they put their new nation first and recall The Old Country on St. Urho’s Day.  That’s what needs to happen for these folks, else they’re not Americans, they’re tourists.

I don’t disagree with Joe in principle – but not every immigrant ethnic group has molded itself to its surroundings (and, let’s be honest, vice versa) like Scandinavians of the Midwest.

I’ll submit for your approval the Italians, whose fitting into American society had a few hiccups.

And I’m not just talking Godfather Part 3, here.

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

The United States is heading for massive, mountainous, record-breaking deficits under the Trump Administration.  The nation’s reckless spending spree must be curtailed.

I have the solution.  For every illegal alien who enters the country, one student’s college loan is eliminated.  The cost to the taxpayers is about the same and they all vote the same way.

Or we could BUILD THE WALL.

Maybe we could pay unemployed Womens Studies majors to build the wall?

Cultural Genocide!

Donald Truimp proposes to separate children of legal immigrants from their parents for 25 hours a week for instruction in American values – including traditions like Christmas, Easter, and of course fluency in English.    Spokespeople for the proposal say that if immigrants won’t willingly  assimilate to American life, they – or at least their next generation – should be forced to assimilate.

The proposal would also hike sentences for crimes committed in immigrant neighborhoods, and impose potential prison terms on parents who send their kids on extended trips back to the home culture for de-assimilation.

The left is rolling out its big guns against this latest Trump atrocity.

Downfall

Europe – blessed by US deterrence with the longest period of peace in its history – loves to hector America about how much better Europe does, well, everything.

Laugh it up, Eurotrash:

There is a Roman Empire-like sameness throughout Europe in fashion, popular culture, and government protocol — a welcome change from the deadly fault lines of 1914 and 1939.

Yet, as in the waning days of Rome, there is a growing uncertainly beneath the European calm.

The present generation has inherited the physical architecture and art of a once-great West — cathedrals, theaters, and museums. But it seems to lack the confidence that it could ever create the conditions to match, much less exceed, such achievement.

The sense of depression in Europe reminds one of novelist J. R. R. Tolkien’s description of the mythical land of Gondor in his epic fantasy The Lord of the Rings. Gondor’s huge walls, vaunted traditions, and rich history were testaments that it once served as bulwark of a humane Middle-earth.

When they were a collection of smallish, ethnically and culturally homogenous statelets, they had something going for them (other than the whole “going to war with each other every generation or more” thing).

But the thing about European cultures is, you can never “become” French, or Norwegian, or Dutch; those societies are defined by language, history and ethnicity (even polyglot Switzerland).  Combine that with being in demographic death spirals (at least those countries west of the German/Polish border) and importing millions of people, first “guest workers” and later refugees to fill in the demographic gaps, workers who can never be truly assimilated into their respective societies…

…and all that placid homogeneity that allowed Swedish and Dutch and French society to actually be Swedish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, whatever, is all by the boards.

And then, the best they can hope for is to become occasionally fractious, like we do.  The worst?

The same thing that always happens when one culture drowns in another.

The Wheel Just Keeps On Spinning

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

We’re headed for another fight over Dreamers, illegal aliens brought into the country as minors by their parents.  Democrats and RINOs like McCain want amnesty on the grounds that minors aren’t responsible for their actions so it’s humane to let them stay rather than force them to return to a country they never knew.

Okay, but there are about a million Dreamers.  The instant you give citizenship to Dreamers, they can use family reunification rules to sponsor their parents for citizenship. Now we’re up to 3 million. That’s a lot of new Democrat voters.

Why are we having an amnesty discussion at all?  Because the Dreamers came here without permission.  How’d they do that?  Strolled across the border.  Why didn’t somebody stop them?  Because there’s no wall on the border.  Why not?

Look, there are only two possibilities.  First one, Open Borders.  Make the US border with Mexico as wide open like the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin – anybody can enter, thieves, gangsters, terrorists, without limitation.  In that case, we shouldn’t bother with formal citizenship: everybody who stands on our soil is a citizen.  The dirt will magically transform them from their culture to ours.  In fact, why should they have to make the trip at all?  Anybody with the spirit and desire to be an American should be able to vote for Democrats and receive welfare checks, regardless of where they in the world they live.  No borders.

Second option, some people get in, but others do not.  It doesn’t matter who does not, the fact some people are not allowed in brings up the most urgent question: how will you keep them out?

The Wall is too expensive? Fine, what’s your alternative proposal to keep them out?  Electronic countermeasures, virtual wall, drones?  Didn’t work to keep out the 3 million we’re going to amnesty – how will it work to keep out the next 3 million?  30 million?  300 million?

Prohibition without enforcement is functionally equivalent to acceptance.   Either we have a border or we don’t.  Either we keep undesirables out or we don’t.   –

I think we ought to build The Wall to keep out undesirables.  65 other nations around the world agree with me.  If you’ve got a better idea, let’s hear it.  We’ve got about a week to decide before amnesty is given and the cycle starts all over again.

Joe Doakes

It is, to coin a phrase, a time for choosing.  Is this a sovereign nation with a culture worth preserving, or not?

Contraindicated

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

When the gun grabbers want to push gun control, they decry 30,000 gun violence deaths per year. But wait, 20,000 of them are old white men committing suicide and 10,000 are young black men killing each other in the hood. The causes are completely different and the cures are therefore different.  One needs mental health intervention, the other needs stop and frisk. You can’t lump them altogether with the one-size-fits-all solution “close the gun show loophole.”
Amnesty advocates for illegal aliens claim there are 11 million living in the shadows. But wait, some were children brought here by their parents (dreamers), some are parents of children born here (anchor babies), some are adults who jumped the border alone (beast train), some had student visas but never went home (9/11 hijackers).   The causes are completely different and therefore the cures are different. Going after visa holders and eliminating chain migration does not eliminate the need for a border wall.  It just means we need to work twice as hard to clean up the entire festering mess.
Build the damned wall.
Joe Doakes

Sometimes, when a family works on its finances, the solutions are “Spend less”, “earn more” or “live on a budget”.  And sometimes the answer is all three.  Stat.

Not Quite

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

People who snuck into the country should be deported; but if they’re law-abiding while here, there’s no urgency.

People who snuck into the country and committed crimes while here are worse, so President Trump has prioritized them for deportation.

Lawyers for illegal immigrants are now seeking pardons for their state crimes, so criminal illegals can stay in the pool of not-urgent deportations.  Governor Brown of California issued pardons specifically to interfere with federal immigration enforcement efforts.

Just as Not Guilty doesn’t equal Innocent, Pardoned doesn’t equal Law-Abiding.  We were willing to cut you a break for compassionate reasons but this kind of gamesmanship underscores the seriousness of the problem of immigration abuse by immigrants and Liberals alike, and my sympathy flies out the window.

You don’t like us going after criminals first?  Fine.  We’ll go after every illegal immigrant but only in states that defy us.  Pull every Border Patrol agent out of every other state for a two week sweep through California.  Start with nannies and gardeners in Hollywood and Sacramento but don’t just pick up the illegals, go after their employers too.  Let’s see if they still think resistance is fun when their legal defense bills arrive.

And when Congress gets back in town, we demand special legislation that makes receipt of federal funds dependent on cooperation with federal immigration officials.  No more sanctuary cities, or no more money.

The Resistance is a big swamp and it’s not just in Washington.  Drain the whole thing.

Joe Doakes

Lots of training to do.

Too much even for two terms.

Top Heavy

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails

60 million receiving Social Security, 120 million paying into it, a 2-to-1 ratio of workers to beneficiaries.  We’ve reached the level of the Ponzi scheme pyramid where the scam becomes unsustainable.

How to save it?  Maybe start by eliminating payments to non-citizens.   Why not, they can’t vote you out of office and the rest of us certainly will.  Side benefit – money is fungible.  Every dollar we don’t send to non-citizens living in Mexico is a dollar to Build The Wall and have Mexico pay for it.  Campaign promise kept!

Joe Doakes

I can hear the sputtering already.

You’re Just Another Panel In The Wall

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

The United States border with Mexico is about 1,900 miles long.  Trump seeks $18 billion to build The Wall over 10 years.  Not good enough.  He’s only in office three more years, after which his successor can halt construction.  We’ve seen this before.

Reagan traded amnesty for promises of increased border security, in 1986.  A few miles of fence were built in San Diego in 1990 but Democrats handled the promise like a Popeye cartoon.

Bush signed the Secure Fence Act in 2006 which authorized 700 miles of fence, again mostly in border towns.  It’s just a fence, nothing particularly hard to defeat, and it’s only a short part of the border. 1,200 miles are still wide open.  Immigrants walked around the end of the fence, by the millions.

Bureaucrats complain it’s hard to build a fence in the desert but Israel built a border fence to keep terrorists out after the 2000 conflict.  It’s 450 miles long and they completed it in 3 years, start to finish.  It’s been amazingly effective at keeping out terrorists. Israeli engineers are capable, but Americans are not?  Nonsense.

The lesson from history is clear:  Trump must get the entire remaining 1,200 miles of fence built before he leaves office, or it won’t happen.  The only way to make that happen is to hang a hammer over the heads of amnesty advocates.

When the fence is FINISHED, we will amnesty to qualified immigrants who can prove they were in the country as of 2017.  No new arrivals (end chain migration and anchor babies).   No convicts.

Otherwise, I suspect Derb is correct:  We shall end up with a bill giving amnesty to the DACA illegals in return for an end to the “diversity visa” lottery and a new paint scheme for the border posts. And Trump will be a one-term wonder.

Joe Doakes

And the thing is, even the Border Patrol union – the only government union to endorse Trump – said that they don’t need a wall along the entire border; some parts of the high desert are too remote for all but the most desperate illegals – and anyone with the cojones to cross out in the middle of that Godforsaken nowhere might just deserve a shot at being an American; maybe ship out some millennial “Studies” majors to make it even.

Renversement

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

Emmanuel Macron won the Presidency of France six months ago by claiming to be more friendly, more compassionate, more caring than the far-rightnationalist candidate Marine Le Pen who pledged to crack down on immigrants.  As recently as July, Macron was celebrated as the Anti-Trump, a globalist who believes Europe needs to do more for immigrants.

President Macron is cracking down on immigrants.

Well, yes.  He must, because pesky reality keeps intruding into Liberal fantasy.  Millions of Middle Eastern men who flooded Europe hoping for jobs cannot sleep on the streets forever.  Eventually, they must go back and the barbed wire must go up to keep out the next wave.  Too many came too quickly for assimilation; the only possibilities are repatriation or extermination.

The difference between globalists and nationalists is we’re honest about where we’re inevitably headed.

Joe Doakes

Side note:   wouldn’t it be ironic if all the people fret today about “cultural appropriation” woke up to found out their culture had been appropriated from them?

Not That There’s A Problem

Two years ago, “the authorities” dismissed reporters that gangs of Middle-Eastern and North-African migrants roamed the streets of German cities during the New Years celebrations, attacking women in an orgy of depredation Europe hadn’t seen since, well, Europeans were doing it to each other in the thirties and forties.

Dismissals aside, The Authorities” saw fit to staff “women only safe zones” in Berlin for this year’s New Year celebration in Berlin:

Organisers of Berlin’s New Year’s Eve celebrations are to set up a “safe zone” for women for the first time.

The new security measures planned for the Brandenburg Gate party come amid concerns about sexual assaults…Women who have been assaulted or feel harassed will be able to get support at a special “safety zone”, staffed by the German Red Cross, on Ebertstrasse…The city’s police have also issued advice to women, encouraging them to seek help if they feel threatened and to carry a small bag with no valuables.

The “zone” will be staffed by counselors and psychologists.

I’m thinking the Bundeswehr would be a better idea, but then The Authorities never ask me about these things.  Still, I’m not the only critic:

Critics say it does not tackle the perpetrators of sexual violence, while some others complain it is discriminatory.

A society that thinks giving refuge from rapists “discriminates” against…rapists may be too far gone to save.

On the other hand, Berlin is, in American terms, a hard-blue city.  Which brings us back to “perhaps too far gone to save”.

7 Billion Americans (Paperwork Pending)

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

RINOs demand amnesty for illegal aliens before year-end.

Yes, I know, they’re claiming it’s only for a few people, and they’re doing it for the children, and I’m a hard-hearted bastard for doubting them.  But this is not my first rodeo.  I remember 1986.  I know a camel’s nose when I see one.

“They are American in every way except their immigration status.”  That is precisely correct.  They are NOT Americans, any more than the other 7 billion people on the planet who also are not Americans.  We should treat all Not Americans the same.

It doesn’t matter whether they snuck across the border on their own, or with a friend, or with a parent, or rode here on top of a train.  They had no right to come.  Being here doesn’t give them a right to stay, to bring in their extended families, to work at jobs Americans could have had, to collect welfare benefits Americans pay to help our fellow citizens of America.

No deal.

Joe Doakes

It doesn’t seem too much to ask…

…but I dream.

A Cold Antananarivo

Joe Doakes emails from Como Park:

I had an appointment at Health Partners yesterday.  First question the receptionist asked: “Have you traveled outside the country in the last two weeks?”

Why does it matter if I went anywhere?  I live in Minnesota, home to the largest tuberculosis outbreak in the nation, centered in the Hmong population, and the largest measles outbreak in the nation, centered in the Somali population.  There’s nothing to stop somebody from Madagascar, home to the largest outbreak of antibiotic resistant plague in the world, from coming here and bringing the disease along.

I don’t need to travel outside the country to encounter deadly infectious disease.  I have free delivery, all over town.  And if I don’t like it, the Governor said I can leave.

Österreich Wieder Groß Zu Machen

Austria elects a millennial immigration hard-liner in the race for Austria’s Chancellorship:

Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz declared victory on Sunday in the race to become Austria’s chancellor, becoming the youngest head of state in the West. The 31-year-old Kurz and the center-right People’s Party defeated the Social Democratic Party, which was the largest party in the Austrian parliament before Sunday.

Austria – a nation with about the same  population as Minnesota and the Dakotas put together – has been on the front line of Europe’s immigration crisis.  The rise of the Austrian Volkspartei  (Peoples Party) – which is called “far right”,- is not uncoincident with the rise of Trump in the US, and other parties that are demanding a very un-Euro, un-“progressive” approach to immigration in time of anti-western extremism.

(Here’s a take from the center-right German ˆFrankfurter Allgemeineˆ)
