The other half covers interest and penalties.<\/p>\n<p>The group likely will hold a special meeting next week to discuss hiring an accounting firm to sort out the financial problems, said board president Bill Poulos.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to try to make the meeting.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll run a stopwatch to see exactly when the &#8220;P&#8221; word &#8211; partisan &#8211; is broached the first time.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re trying to get a better handle of what this figure is,&#8221; Poulos said. &#8220;As it stands right now, our liabilities exceed our assets.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Looks like &#8220;partisanship&#8221; will do the District Council system a world of good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Highland Park District Council&#8217;s news is worse than previously thought: The Highland District Council owes the Internal Revenue Service and the state of Minnesota more than $69,000, about twice as much as previously thought.
