Fix This"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Obama&#8217;s relentless push to &#8220;reform&#8221; health care misses the point &#8211; by a mile.<\/p>\n<p>Health care costs in America aren&#8217;t attributable to <em>not enough<\/em> government involvement rather not enough freedom of choice (i.e. free market forces) and even moreso, an epidemic lack of personal responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>Liberals aren&#8217;t real big on the personal responsibility deal, and most Americans are oblivious to the fact that a government &#8220;reform&#8221; of their health care system <em>takes<\/em> more than it gives &#8211; they&#8217;re too fat, dumb and happy.<\/p>\n<p>Mostly fat though.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and it starts with our youngn&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=20601124&amp;sid=a2SqeQmVnpUs\">Extreme obesity affects about 6.4 percent of children<\/a>, according to a Kaiser Permanente study that suggests overweight kids are getting even heavier.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What do you suppose the chances are that a fat kid ends up being a fat adult?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/hivandaids\/Predicting%20Obesity%20in%20Young%20Adulthood%20from%20Childhood%20and%20Parental%20Obesity.pdf\">Several studies<\/a> now indicate that obesity in young adult life is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Furthermore, excessive weight during adolescence predicts a number of adverse effects on health later in life, including increased mortality among men.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What are the results of obesity?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<blockquote>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Coronary heart disease <\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Type 2 diabetes<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Hypertension (high blood pressure)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of   \t\ttriglycerides) <\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Stroke <\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Liver and Gallbladder disease <\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Sleep apnea and respiratory problems<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Osteoarthritis (a degeneration of cartilage and its underlying bone   \t\twithin a joint) <\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthyweight\/effects\/index.html\">Gynecological problems (abnormal menses, infertility)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Its a list of all the usual suspects of the most costly burdens to our health care system. Meanwhile Barack Obama is vilifying the health insurance companies while Michelle Obama (as much as it pains me to type this) might actually be on the right track in her mission to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0210\/32420.html\">reduce childhood obesity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s unfortunate that America is being sold the idea that the only solution to health care reform is a massive expansion of government entitlements when the massive expansion <em>of Americans<\/em> is one of the major factors in our health care &#8220;crisis.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Obama&#8217;s relentless push to &#8220;reform&#8221; health care misses the point &#8211; by a mile.
