LIBRELLE:\u00a0 Shut up.\u00a0 The shooting in Minneapolis yesterday proved that “thoughts and prayers” aren’t enough.\u00a0 They were literally praying…<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 So it’s time to doooooooooooo something?<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 Why the tone of mockery?\u00a0 I’m serious.\u00a0 It’s time to…well, it’s time for action!<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 Any action?<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE: Anything that works!<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 \u00a0Great.\u00a0 So the state’s “red flag law” didn’t work, because for\u00a0some reason\u00a0<\/em>nobody called the authorities about an apparently transgender person saying crazy things.\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 Heyyyyyy<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 And to ban guns you’ll have to repeal the Second Amendment…<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 Which we can\u00a0dooooooo<\/em>!<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 You can’t.\u00a0 You’ll need 2\/3 of Congress – you might get 35%, once.\u00a0 And if for sake of argument you do, then yo’ll need 38 states.\u00a0 You might get 10, one time.\u00a0 \u00a0So that’s not happening.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 OK, wise guy, what do you have?<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 Something that been 100% effective so far in preventing school shootings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 Oooh,\u00a0 Go for it. I’m all ears.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 It’s a policy used in 1,000 school districts nationwide.\u00a0 And in 25 years, there’ve been zero shootings at any of them, during school hours, on school property.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE: Let me guess- religious and home schools?<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 I said\u00a0districts<\/em>.\u00a0 Public. schools.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 OK. So far so good. .\u00a0<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 Not a single child harmed.\u00a0 That’s what we’re going for, right?<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 \u00a0Must be some\u00a0really\u00a0<\/em>progressive policy!<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 They’ve rejected the “gun free zone” label.\u00a0 \u00a0They\u00a0allow\u00a0<\/em>staff to carry their own firearms.\u00a0 Some of them require training, others don’t’, but the point is, anyone thinking about shooting up a school has to reckon with the fact that any teacher, any principal, any\u00a0janitor,\u00a0<\/em>any\u00a0lunch lady\u00a0<\/em>can end them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 That’s horrible!<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 Why?<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 More guns ocn’t fix the problem.\u00a0<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 First – it’s not “more guns”.\u00a0 It’s the possibility of\u00a0any\u00a0<\/em>gun.\u00a0 And if “no school shootings” is your goal, then that seems to have hit the spot, doesn’t it?<\/p>\n

LIBRELLE:\u00a0 That…just…<\/p>\n

BERG:\u00a0 VIolates your sense of moral aesthetics?\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
