It&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kare11.com\/article\/news\/local\/hennepin-county-attorney-mary-moriarty-wont-seek-reelection\/89-9c092d63-923b-40ab-ba09-a3394fc1dee8\">so she can focus on &#8220;transforming the office&#8221; even furth<\/a>er:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI ran for this office to do the hard work; the work that desperately needed doing and the work the voters chose when I was elected in 2022 by 16 points,\u201dMoriarty said in the release. \u201cWe\u2019ve become accustomed to elected officials who don\u2019t deliver results and end up more invested in clinging to power than doing the work of the people. That is not me. As I have weighed whether I wanted to spend the last year and a half of my term focused primarily on campaigning or continuing to transform this office, the choice became clear. I want to focus on running the office, rather than running for office.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The worse news?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember &#8211; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?page_id=76962\">Cano Corollary to Berg&#8217;s 21st Law<\/a> is called a &#8220;law&#8221; for a reason:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote>\n<p>In Blue city electoral politics, \u201cblue\u201d never gets \u201clighter\u201d or less \u201cprogressive\u201d.\u00a0 There is only one electoral direction \u2013\u00a0<em>more\u00a0<\/em>\u201cprogressive\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A symptom of this is when one sees people <em>just barely\u00a0<\/em>to the left of a city\u2019s Overton Window referring to the progressive politicidans and institutions in power as \u201cConservatives\u201d or \u201cRepublicans\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When Alondra Cano seems like a sane, rational stateswoman, the Frey Corollary is in effect.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Worst &#8211; ergo most likely &#8211; scenario:\u00a0 Moriarty spends the rest of her term gutting whatever vestiges of traditional law and order might remain her her office, turns it over to someone who will be subtly running to challenge Omar Fateh, Keith Ellison or Ilhan Omar <em>from the left\u00a0<\/em>one day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The good news:\u00a0 Bloody Mary Moriarty is not running for re-election as Henco Attorney.\u00a0\u00a0 The bad news?
