{"id":889,"date":"2007-06-04T03:29:58","date_gmt":"2007-06-04T09:29:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/index.php\/index.php\/2007\/06\/04\/for-whom-the-strib-tolls\/"},"modified":"2014-12-12T14:53:24","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T20:53:24","slug":"for-whom-the-strib-tolls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=889","title":{"rendered":"For Whom The Strib Tolls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City Pages is <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.citypages.com\/blotter\/2007\/06\/the_names_of_st.asp\">keeping a running tally<\/a> of the newsroom staffers at the Strib who&#8217;ve taken buyouts or are otherwise leaving or moving about\u00a0the paper.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Stribbers taking the buyout:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eric Black &#8211; this is a whack upside the head.\u00a0 Black was one of the good ones.<br \/>\nConrad Defiebre &#8211; this one, too.\u00a0 Defiebre actually had a track record as a journalist who could actually write the facts.<br \/>\nPat Pheifer<br \/>\nNancy Olsen<br \/>\nDoug Grow &#8211; bummer.\u00a0 Oh, I disagree with Grow about <em>everything<\/em> &#8211; but he was a good reporters.\u00a0 Which was probably the undoing of his column; unlike Lileks and Katherine Kersten, he&#8217;d actually worked as a beat reporter, which I&#8217;m going to presume made it likely the paper would carry through on its threat to assign some of its general columnists back to street reporting.<br \/>\nSusie Hopper<br \/>\nLinda Mack<br \/>\nStormi Greener<br \/>\nChuck Haga<br \/>\nSharon Schmickle<br \/>\nJim Boyd &#8211; I&#8217;m almost sad about this.\u00a0 Jim Boyd was a walking, breathing case study of both entrenched,\u00a0 preening media bias, but of the overweening arrogance of the American &#8220;journalistic&#8221; caste.\u00a0 With him in his office, conservative bloggers never had a shortage of material.\u00a0 With him gone, we may have to work at it.<br \/>\nJay Weiner<br \/>\nDeborah Caulfield Rybak &#8211; I&#8217;ve quoted her many, many times over the years, in her capacity as the media beat reporter.\u00a0<br \/>\nJohn Addington<br \/>\nNancy Entwhistle<br \/>\nTom Ford<br \/>\nRobyn Dochterman<br \/>\nJoe Kimball &#8211; Kimball covered Saint Paul, and did an excellent job.\u00a0<br \/>\nDelma Francis<br \/>\nLarry (L.K.)
