{"id":88359,"date":"2024-09-19T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-19T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=88359"},"modified":"2024-09-19T10:02:23","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T15:02:23","slug":"the-minnesota-prototype-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=88359","title":{"rendered":"The Minnesota Prototype"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Seen on Twitter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I wanna live in an America where the press has more access to the Democrat nominee than the assassins do to the Republican Nominee.<\/p>&mdash; Jimmy Failla (@jimmyfailla) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jimmyfailla\/status\/1835445788404862985?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 15, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If someone on the Trump campaign doesn&#8217;t turn this into a bumper sticker, it deserves to lose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it brought me back to something I talked about on the air the other day.<\/p>\n<p>Hear me out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Minnesota Model<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>See how Kamala Harris has been campaigning?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evading all questioning<\/li>\n<li>Avoiding policy discussions<\/li>\n<li>Being as vague and gauzy as possible about the bits of policy they <em>do <\/em>talk about<\/li>\n<li>Slopping the public trough with an endless diet of soft-focus social media<\/li>\n<li>Letting the opposition research staff and media (pardon the redundancy) do the hard work?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Look familiar?<\/p>\n<p>If you live in Minnesota, it should.\u00a0 The Democrats have been trial-running this strategy since at least 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Do you remember Tim Walz and Peggy Flanagan ever talking about policy?<\/p>\n<p>Other than soft-focus platitudes about &#8220;fully funding education&#8221;, &#8220;reducing poverty 30%&#8221;, &#8220;sending kids to school with full bellies&#8221; (puke), &#8220;One Minnesota!&#8221;, and even abortion policy?<\/p>\n<p>The only record the Walz\/Flanagan regime will leave to historians is the endless river of social media posts, dripping with platitudes and set-piece photos of Walz in his &#8220;regular guy&#8221; costume doing &#8220;regular guy&#8221; stuff, holding piglets and hugging kids and getting fed Pronto Pups by the Lieutenant Governor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ditto Angie Craig, whose only public persona is the biennial off-road rally she throws in that stupid black Jeep.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking at Harris\/Walz&#8217;s national campaign and not feeling <em>deja<\/em> <em>vu, <\/em>I&#8217;d love to know why.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Trump manages to win, and the DFL takes some setbacks, maybe the &#8220;Minnesota Model&#8221; of campaigning &#8211; evade questioning (or count on the media not bothering to ask them), slop the trough with an endless diet of gauzy social media holding piglets and being &#8220;brat&#8221; &#8211; will start reachind the end of its fifteen minutes. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seen on Twitter: If someone on the Trump campaign doesn&#8217;t turn this into a bumper sticker, it deserves to lose.
