{"id":86018,"date":"2023-10-13T06:00:50","date_gmt":"2023-10-13T11:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=86018"},"modified":"2023-09-18T10:13:14","modified_gmt":"2023-09-18T15:13:14","slug":"soundtrack-part-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=86018","title":{"rendered":"Soundtrack, Part 9"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Of all the music I&#8217;ve talked about this past two weeks, this one may be the closest thing to an emotional time machine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Don Henley - The Boys Of Summer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6RUIeX6UCT8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My own baggage notwithstanding, if you built a time capsule and wanted to put &#8220;The perfect 1980s song&#8221; in it, this would be a candidate; the shufflying synth drums and faux orchestra skirling about with Mike Campbell&#8217;s ultra-minimalist punctuation on guitar (which is backwards rock and roll!) &#8211; it tied the whole decade together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the song itself &#8211; all about getting your arms around what you&#8217;ve lost?
