{"id":85898,"date":"2023-09-01T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-01T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=85898"},"modified":"2023-08-31T21:24:16","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T02:24:16","slug":"exit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=85898","title":{"rendered":"Exit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The city of Champlin is <a href=\"https:\/\/kstp.com\/kstp-news\/top-news\/champlin-city-council-discusses-potential-secession-from-hennepin-county\/\">mulling over seceding from Hennepin County<\/a>, and joining Anoka County:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And they\u2019re not wrong:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWhen you look at the big picture, it feels like we\u2019re just an ATM,\u201d said Mayor Ryan Sabas about the Hennepin County Government. \u201cBut they are not making deposits here back to the city of Champlin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One-third of resident\u2019s tax bill is sent to the Hennepin County government, according to the mayor.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And they are not wrong:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>One example the mayor provided is that currently there are no transportation dollars being spent on projects in the community over the next four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur efforts with Hennepin County over the years to have them assist infrastructure, road projects or any requests with the county, really goes unheard,\u201d said Mayor Sabas.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>I expect a pretty robust response from the DFL.
