{"id":85477,"date":"2023-07-03T07:43:32","date_gmt":"2023-07-03T12:43:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=85477"},"modified":"2023-07-03T07:43:32","modified_gmt":"2023-07-03T12:43:32","slug":"mediocrity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=85477","title":{"rendered":"Mediocrity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This is from the <em>Pioineer Press <\/em>letters to the editor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>With the Ford plant long gone \u2014 and with Henry Ford\u2019s reputation of being a major anti-Semite \u2014 I have been thinking about renaming Ford Parkway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The replacement name I would like to recommend is \u201cGeorge Latimer Parkway.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to one current city councilor, \u201cLatimer was hands down the best mayor we ever had.\u201d So who could be more deserving of having a major St. Paul street named after him? What an honor!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>With all due respect to the &#8220;one current councilor&#8221; standard, let&#8217;s be honest:  all it takes is for two or more Highland Park DFL busybody biddies to start agitating for it, and it&#8217;ll likely happen &#8211; and that was evenb before the St Paul City Council devolved into the pack of hyenas it largely is today, saved from being the worst City Council in Minnesota only because Minneapolis is next door.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still and all, I  have a list of alternative, better ideas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) Rename it &#8220;Quit Using The CIty As Your Playground, Highland Park Busybodies Parkway&#8221; (we&#8217;ll need longer street signs, which will provide jobs).<br>2) Name it for the last *good* mayor we had, Norm Coleman.<br>1) Leave it alone and and fix the roads and hire some cops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is from the Pioineer Press letters to the editor: With the Ford plant long gone \u2014 and with Henry Ford\u2019s reputation of being a major anti-Semite \u2014 I have been thinking about renaming Ford Parkway.
