{"id":85309,"date":"2023-06-09T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-09T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=85309"},"modified":"2023-06-08T05:33:39","modified_gmt":"2023-06-08T10:33:39","slug":"a-simple-proposition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=85309","title":{"rendered":"A Simple Proposition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To: Calvin McDonald, CEO, Lululemon<br>From: Mitch Berg, Irascible Peasant<br>Re:  Business Stuff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. McDonald, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, a couple of employees at a Lululemon store were axed after they tried to react like a normal law-abiding human when someone robbed their store.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You defended this response:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p> Lululemon\u2019s CEO stands by his decision to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/05\/27\/lululemon-employees-reportedly-fired-for-calling-911-during-robbery\/\">axe two employees who called the police<\/a>&nbsp;while three masked men robbed a Georgia outpost, citing the company\u2019s \u201czero-tolerance policy\u201d for intervening with a robbery as reason for firing the workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have a zero-tolerance policy that we train our educators on around engaging during a theft,\u201d Lululemon CEO Calvin McDonald told CNBC during Friday\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/squawkstreet\/status\/1664659272914063360\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cSquawk on the Street.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEducators\u201d are what Lululemon calls its workers&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ferguson said that once a robbery occurs, workers are instructed to \u201cscan a QR code. And that\u2019s that. We\u2019ve been told not to put it in any notes, because that might scare other people. We\u2019re not supposed to call the police, not really supposed to talk about it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, McDonald said that the policy is in place \u201cbecause we put the safety of our team, of our guest, front and center.
