Shoots him twice.  Attendant nonetheless takes the gun away, and shoots the attacker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police arrest the <em>victim<\/em>, charge him with illegal gun possession.  <em>For taking the gun used to try to kill him<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>[Attendant Moussa Diarra, age 57] was shot twice during a tussle with suspected thief Charles Rhodie at Carolan\u2019s West 31st Street garage early Saturday before using the accused man\u2019s weapon to shoot him back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diarra was initially charged by cops in the case, including with criminal possession of a weapon for having Rhodie\u2019s gun at one point, but&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/04\/02\/bragg-wont-charge-wounded-garage-worker-who-shot-suspected-thief\/\">Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg\u2019s office Sunday dropped the raps<\/a>. Rhodie still faces charges including attempted murder.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Bragg&#8217;s office dropped the charges after public outcry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s emphasize that properly &#8211; it took public outcry to get these morally depraved charges against an innocent man who defended himself dropped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And just so I&#8217;m clear, by &#8220;depraved&#8221; i mean &#8220;evil&#8221;.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When governments goal is to make people more afraid of the consequences of protecting themselves than of being victimized, there is no other word for it. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Man tries to rob parking lot attendant in New York.
