{"id":84327,"date":"2023-01-24T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=84327"},"modified":"2023-01-23T07:44:33","modified_gmt":"2023-01-23T13:44:33","slug":"the-gaslighting-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=84327","title":{"rendered":"The Gaslighting Project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Nikole Hanna-Jones grift continues.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tpr.org\/2023-01-22\/nikole-hannah-jones-on-turning-the-1619-project-into-a-docuseries\">caught her segment on &#8220;All Things Considered&#8221; over the weekend<\/a> (so you don&#8217;t have to):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>I think there is a segment of America that you will never reach. They don&#8217;t care what the facts are. They don&#8217;t care what the history is. They don&#8217;t want to hear it. But I don&#8217;t actually think that&#8217;s most Americans. As I say, you know, in the preface for the original project, we all suffer for the poor history we&#8217;ve been taught. And I couldn&#8217;t be a journalist &#8211; I wouldn&#8217;t have chosen this as my profession if I didn&#8217;t believe that if you can inform people, if you can provide people with the correct information, that that has the ability to be transformative.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the segments Hanna-Jones will never reach are <em>people who prefer their history to tell the complete story, without being altered to drive a political agenda<\/em>.  People like those notorious conservative tools at <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/archive\/2019\/12\/historians-clash-1619-project\/604093\/\">The Atlantic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/marybethgasman\/2021\/06\/03\/what-history-professors-really-think-about-the-1619-project\/?sh=3f0852bb7a15\">Forbes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2020\/03\/06\/1619-project-new-york-times-mistake-122248\">Politico<\/a>, <\/em>and<a href=\"https:\/\/historynewsnetwork.org\/article\/174140\"> collections of Civil War academics<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aier.org\/article\/fact-checking-the-1619-project-and-its-critics\/\">economists<\/a> and on and on.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She&#8217;ll never reach those of us who object to her completely rewriting and slandering entire swathes of American history, while slathering herself in the strawman that critiqueing her project (or, merely, her) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/ap-teachers-guide-proves-desantis-right-in-african-american-studies-clash\/\">means<\/a> shutting down the study of the history of slavery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Somehow &#8211; unexpectedly &#8211; none of that made it into Michelle Martin&#8217;s fawning &#8220;interview&#8221;, which was more a matter of mutual toenail-painting than news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nikole Hanna-Jones grift continues.
