I don\u2019t want to generalize this, but I really don\u2019t recall anyone in my social circle &#8211; or anyone I knew at all, really &#8211; reading them after about age 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So in the \u201cepic battle\u201c between DC and Marvel, I vote \u201cpresent\u201c. If I care to vote at all.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which I don\u2019t. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watching the descent of Hollywood into endless reboots of DC and Marvel properties is not the most depressing aspect of watching western culture today. But it\u2019s not far from the bottom of the barrel, to be honest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>  I\u2019m not saying, I want the comic book industry to kill itself off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But if I did, I\u2019d want to see a lot of stories like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/lporiginalg\/status\/1611125297256206336?s=46&#038;t=1eHUA8BJxpzvLgfP99eDIA\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cgay Superman\u201c gimmick a couple years ago was one thing; at least he still looked like Superman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The anorexic superman played by \u201ctransgender man\u201c? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, isn\u2019t that just so 21st-century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPDATE:  I&#8217;m told I&#8217;ve fallen for a joke tweet.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then it&#8217;s a pretty brilliant joke, since the premise is exactly that plausible, in Hollywood, these days. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have no investment in comic books.
