{"id":83920,"date":"2022-11-21T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-21T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=83920"},"modified":"2022-11-20T10:38:41","modified_gmt":"2022-11-20T16:38:41","slug":"intentional-confusion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=83920","title":{"rendered":"Intentional Confusion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>So you read the headline of <a href=\"https:\/\/m.startribune.com\/legally-bought-guns-turning-up-at-crime-scenes-faster-than-ever-in-minnesota-nationally\/600227932\/?clmob=y&#038;c=n&#038;clmob=y&#038;c=n\">this Strib article<\/a>, and you think perhaps straw-purchased guns  are turning up more often, or maybe that some people out there with clean criminal records are going out to Fleet Farm, picking a gun from the display case, conducting a completely legal and above board purchase, and then embarking on the life of crime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then you read the lead, and it\u2019s\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026about stolen guns being used in crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That were purchased legally, at one point or another.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not sure if they\u2019ve thought this through. <\/p><p>Unless some enterprising gang conducts a heist from the loading dock add Glock USA, literally every firearm available in the United States was legally purchased at one point or another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEven the Mauser KAR 98K grandpa brought back from World War II?\u201c<\/p><p>Well, yeah, the German government purchased it from Mauser in the 1930s or 1940s, and give it to some soldier, from whom your grandfather got it by means fair or foul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t mean to make light of what is, honestly, a fairly scabrous campaign on the part of big left, the anti-gun movement and the media; the latest chanting point is \u201cthere\u2019s a very fine line between legal guns, and legal gun owners, and criminals\u201c.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, with the owners, there is almost invariably not. The overwhelming majority of people who commit crimes with guns have significant criminal records and aren\u2019t allowed to touch, much less own, a firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the guns?
