I don\u2019t, as a rule, go to \u201cromantic comedies\u201c unless I\u2019m dating someone who wants me to go to one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I am about as straight as a cis gender white male can get, the odds of me going to a gay<\/em> romcom are right down there with Stevie Wonder pitching a called third strike against Luis Arraez. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Billy Eichner, the inexplicably famous producer and star of the LGBTQRomcom \u201cBros\u201d, has spent the last week blaming people like me for his movie catastrophically taking the previous weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it\u2019s mildly entertaining to see Matt Brennan, the LA Times entertainment writer and deputy A & E editor, throw a bucket of cold water on a Richner\u2019s snit<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo one wants to support a movie at the point of a bayonet.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Openers spiraling rant last week reminded me of a conversation I had with an LGBTQ activist probably 15 years ago. The person said \u201ctolerance\u201c for gas wasn\u2019t enough; what they we\u2019re looking for was to have the lifestyle \u201ccelebrated<\/em>\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And which I responded, as a conservative who\u2019s participated in a gay bashing on the side of the gay guy, that I didn\u2019t have time or spare energy to celebrate my own sexuality. He\u2019s just going to have to get in line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note to Billy Eichner: want me to show up to a movie? Do it gay film noir. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
