{"id":8227,"date":"2010-01-28T13:00:44","date_gmt":"2010-01-28T18:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=8227"},"modified":"2010-01-28T12:41:48","modified_gmt":"2010-01-28T17:41:48","slug":"cult-of-personality-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=8227","title":{"rendered":"Cult Of Personality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/glennthrush\/0110\/Berry_Obama_said_big_difference_between_10_and_94_is_me.html\">Representative Marion Berry<\/a>, all we really need is more Barack Obama.<\/p>\n<p>According to Barack Obama, that is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The retiring Berry, who doesn&#8217;t say when the remarks were made, now scoffs at Obama&#8217;s 50-or-below approval rating:<\/p>\n<p>Writes ADG reporter Jane Fullerton:<\/p>\n<p>Berry recounted meetings with White House officials, reminiscent of some during the Clinton days, where he and others urged them not to force Blue Dogs \u201coff into that swamp\u201d of supporting bills that would be unpopular with voters back home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been doing that with this White House, and they just don\u2019t seem to give it any credibility at all,\u201d Berry said. \u201cThey just kept telling us how good it was going to be. The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, \u2018Well, the big difference here and in \u201994 was you\u2019ve got me.\u2019 We\u2019re going to see how much difference that makes now.\u201d [snip]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Does Obama really think he was <em>that <\/em>big an edge on Bill Clinton in the &#8220;personal charm&#8221; department?\u00a0 Perhaps, but let&#8217;s remember Clinton combined &#8220;Bill Clinton&#8221; with a heck of a lot of triangulation to save his presidency in 1994.\u00a0 Obama seems, if anything, to be triangulating left.<\/p>\n<p>Berry seems to think so, too:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI began to preach last January that we had already seen this movie and we didn\u2019t want to see it again because we know how it comes out,\u201d said Arkansas\u2019 1st District congressman, who worked in the Clinton administration before being elected to the House in 1996&#8230; &#8220;I just began to have flashbacks to 1993 and \u201994. No one that was here in \u201994, or at the day after the election felt like.
