The DFL (8 candidates) and GOP (10) ones are vying for a significant shot on the ballot in a special election coming up on August 9.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can fairly feel the media, practically begging for a strong performance by Jennifer Carnahan, widow of the late Rep. Hagedorn and controversial former state GOP chair.  It&#8217;d guarantee a couple months of soap-opera drama before a DFL victory &#8211; a win-win for the DFL and media (pardon the redundancy).
