{"id":821,"date":"2007-05-15T03:31:37","date_gmt":"2007-05-15T09:31:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/index.php\/index.php\/2007\/05\/15\/stink-test\/"},"modified":"2007-05-15T03:31:37","modified_gmt":"2007-05-15T09:31:37","slug":"stink-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=821","title":{"rendered":"Stink Test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw the breathless news reports <em>last <\/em>week &#8211; about how mothers, if paid at the scale of the various jobs they hold (according to Salary.com), would\/should earn $138,095 a year.<\/p>\n<p>It didn&#8217;t pass the stink test for me, but\u00a0I didn&#8217;t know why.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nihilist &#8211; recovering nicely from his year as a City Pages-endorsed blogger &#8211; in his capacity as a bean-counter, <a href=\"http:\/\/nihlist.blogspot.com\/2007\/05\/this-one-may-get-me-into-trouble-today.html\"><em>does <\/em>know why<\/a>.\u00a0 &#8220;Mom&#8221;, according to the &#8220;survey&#8221;, has a bunch of jobs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Chief Executive Officer<\/li>\n<li>Psychologist<\/li>\n<li>Facilities Manager<\/li>\n<li>Day Care Center Teacher<\/li>\n<li>Computer Operator I<\/li>\n<li>Cook &#8211; Institution<\/li>\n<li>Laundry Machine Operator<\/li>\n<li>Van Driver<\/li>\n<li>Janitor<\/li>\n<li>Housekeeper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nihilist starts going down the list:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Let&#8217;s start at the top. Mom as CEO. I recall the salad days of my youth, when mom orchestrated a hostile takeover of the Johnson family down the street and outsourced dad to India before jetting off to Wall Street to make a pitch to Goldman Sachs. No wait, I don&#8217;t remember that at all. Because Mom is not a CEO.
