They justify the charge, first, by explaining that \u201cmany states have allowed reduced minimum wages for service staff in the form of a tip credit.\u201d (More on this in a minute.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>But Minnesota (the restaurant being referred to is in southwest Minneapolis) is not one of them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Oh, also they think you\u2019re a bigot\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cStudies have also shown that there is inequity and built-in bias in the way consumers give tips,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cIn general, Black or Brown servers receive less tips than Caucasian servers. There is gender bias as well.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Has anyone noticed how the phrase \u201cstudies show\u2026\u201d may as well be a shorthand signal for \u201cweasel words will follow\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I used to like to ask \u201cwhat studies?
