{"id":79726,"date":"2021-10-12T06:18:29","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T11:18:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=79726"},"modified":"2021-10-12T14:45:11","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T19:45:11","slug":"well-thats-a-big-slip-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=79726","title":{"rendered":"Well, That\u2019s A Big Slip-up!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><p>Philippe Cunningham, Minneapolis&#8217;s first transgender black city Council woman, says that even though she has spoken, and voted for, defunding the police, she doesn\u2019t actually support defunding the police.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><p>Or\u2026 Something like that?<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Phillipe Cunningham is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advocate.com\/commentary\/2015\/09\/08\/op-ed-black-gay-trans-man-minneapolis-city-hall\">first<\/a> black, gay, female-to-male transgender person to become a council member in the city. Last year, Cunningham <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/xLWgl-lb9pI?t=3624\">appeared<\/a> alongside eight other council members at a protest in Powderhorn Park. The centerpiece of this demonstration was a stage that prominently featured the words \u201cDEFUND POLICE\u201d in bold, all capital letters.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Although Cunningham <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/12\/10\/minneapolis-police-department-budget-slashed-by-8-million\/\">voted<\/a> late last year to remove $8 million of funding from the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), she said she doesn\u2019t actually want to defund the police and was \u201cdeceived\u201d into standing on the defund police stage.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Apparently Cunningham was dealing with a pretty incredible con man (con person?), who deceived her into saying an awful lot of things that she never really believed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cIt is possible for us to keep our own community safe,\u201d Cunningham said. \u201cIn north Minneapolis as the buildings were being broken and burned by white supremacists and extremists, MPD was nowhere to be found \u2026 so we had to come together ourselves in order to protect our community.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Cunningham also praised the people \u201cwho threw the first bricks at police officers at Stonewall,\u201d calling on the crowd to \u201chonor our elders.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Apparently the ne\u2019er-do-wells  have moved on from the \u201cNigerian prince\u201c scam, and done it in a big way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be careful out there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Philippe Cunningham, Minneapolis&#8217;s first transgender black city Council woman, says that even though she has spoken, and voted for, defunding the police, she doesn\u2019t actually support defunding the police.
