A group of democratic party operatives is sitting in a crowded, messy campaign office, with video screens silently relaying the news all around them.<\/p>\n\n\n

Operative 2: \u201cOK, we are clear on this; rebuilding the economy from this pandemic is going to be a huge issue.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operative 1 (the campaign Manager): \u201cThat is why the \u201cAmerican Phoenix\u201c program, the presidents plan for what he will do about the economy after he\u2019s elected, will be so important\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n

Operative 3: \u201cSo we\u2019ve gone over with the president exactly how he supposed to message this plan?\u201d<\/p>\n

Operative 4: \u201cWe\u2019ve been rehearsing it every waking hour\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

(Operatives 2-4 chuckle<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intern: (Walks into the room, holding a TV remote, looking nervous) \u201cSir? Senator Biden is on television right now\u2026)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operative 1: \u201cRight? He\u2019s supposed to be, isn\u2019t he\u201c (Other operatives vigorously nod)<\/p>\n\n\n

Intern: (points remote at television monitor, clicks a button) \u201cI think you need to see this, sir\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Candidate Biden (on video) \u201c\u2026 my Build Back Better plan will put Americans back to work\u2026\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n

(All of the operatives blanche)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operative 4: \u201cwhat the\u2026\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operative 1: \u201cHow the hell did he get from American Phoenix to\u2026 what did he say?\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n

Operative 2: \u201cbuild\u2026 Better\u2026 I have no idea.\u201c<\/p>\n

Operative 3: \u201cWhat?\u201c Operative 1: \u201cWell, I\u2019ll be; he actually was<\/em> too senile to remember \u201cAmerican Phoenix\u201c.<\/p>\n\n
