Dennis Prager notes that we&#8217;re more divided, politically and intellectually, today than we were in 1861; other than slavery and its various side effects and the state and regional social differences that they led to, Americans weren&#8217;t <em>that <\/em>far apart back then.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today?   The hate is palpable.  I felt it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?page_id=12\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"12\">almost two decades<\/a> ago, and it&#8217;s gotten much, much worse in the five years.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Half the country is using the nation&#8217;s government and media institutions and, increasingly, the corporate world to gain control over the other half.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And as the Declaration of Independence notes, people are inclined to suffer from indignities and oppression&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;until they&#8217;re not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So &#8211; what if that other half finally says &#8220;enough&#8221;, and decides we&#8217;re better off apart?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ignore the source &#8211; pseudonymous social media trolls are cheaper than Dogecoin derivatives these days.  With that said, whoever drew this&#8230;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/PopulismUpdates\/status\/1415480250440454147\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;must live in Texas (or Florida?), and be one of those Texans \/ Floridians who doesn&#8217;t spend a lot of time paying attention to the rest of the country.
